G for Gratitude

Gee, but i am thankful!

Ten Things of Thankful

It's Saturday, so once again time to post my Ten Things of Thankful list.  Because it's A to Z month, and it worked last week with A, this week i'll post things i'm thankful about that start with the letter G.

Government.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Yes, there's a lot to complain about, yes there are wrong things that should be made right.  It doesn't change the fact that in most countries, we wouldn't have the life we live without rule of law and government.

Grandma and Grandpa.  They are one of the biggest blessings in my life, and i'm grateful i can go see them today.

Get-togethers.   It's nice to have gatherings, and one of my favorites was last night, rEcess.  That's the night a group of volunteers show up at church and babysit special needs kids and their siblings for free so the parents can have a night out.

Our board to tell us who is participating.

Generous people.  We couldn't do rEcess without the generous people who provide a meal for the volunteers.

A very generous dinner.

Games.  While the more active children get to go to the gym and play, my special partner Erin and i play board games.

For this special game, we made up our own rules!

Gifts.  We all have gifts and talents, and i'm thankful we got to show them off at the rEcess talent show.  Everyone got to take home a prize gift, too!

Gift prizes for talented children.

Goldfish crackers.  They are the mainstay of every nursery or day care i've ever worked with, and i am thankful almost every child likes them.

Guitars.  My Sweetie plays, and i'm thankful to be serenaded often.

Garlic.  Too much is just about enough.

Giraffes.  They are among the most fascinating creatures on the planet.  Seeing them always makes me smile.

There we are, ten things that start with G for which i am thankful.  Get your own thankful on and link up at Ten Things of Thankful.  You will be glad you did!

  3. Nice list of things to be grateful for. My little great-niece loves those goldfish crackers. I think it is so wonderful that you volunteer at rEcess. Have a great weekend!

  4. I never really liked goldfish crackers. I know there's that new-ish vanilla flavored one, but still...blech.

I am grateful for garlic! :) The smell is powerful, but it oddly calms me. Like entering a bakery.

Great post! Enjoy your weekend. :)

  6. Fantastic post, as usual. The volunteer endeavor is a real gratitude for both the children you work with and for yourself as well. The giving comes back two-fold, I think, when you give selflessly to a cause. Have a good week. See you at the SSS

  7. I just left Ellen's blog (pilch 92 15andmeowing) and her post title was Goldfish. The first thing I though of is Goldfish crackers. I'm old and I can eat tons of them. Who doesn't like those? Too much garlic is indeed just about enough.

Have a fabulous day and enjoy your visit with Grandma and Grandpa. ☺

  8. I like that you included government on your list. It's easy to poke at the Federal government but most people have no idea how much they benefit from it.

  12. I love the service you are providing parents of special needs children. I'm sure that is so appreciated, and I think those kids probably look forward to these nights. Sometimes making up your own rules when playing games with children is the only way to go. I've been enjoying seeing photos of baby giraffes too.
    Have a wonderful week!

  13. lol fun post, nice melding of the TToT and Anvils to Zebras Challenge
definitely identify with 'garlic'.. back in the day garlic bread used to be somewhat of a specialty with me and if, as I stood over the Italian bread to butter it, my eyes did not tear-up from the garlic fumes, it needed more.

  14. Wow! I love how you managed to make something special even MORE special. I am sure the kiddos had a blast, giggling for sure. I am going to try my hand at combining the A-Z challenge, as well. Thanks for the inspiration.

  18. I apologize for being such a late visitor to your TToT post! We are back from vacation now, and I am slowly getting back in gear and caught up!

This is a great list of g-words! You are right about our government, and the many rights and freedoms it makes possible for us.

I love your rEcess nights, such an amazing gift to these parents, and I know the kids look forward to it just as much! Who doesn't like a talent show? It's wonderful to acknowledge that we all have talents!

Garlic made me laugh because my husband puts it on nearly every dinner he eats! :-)

Grandpa and Grandma and generous people are true blessings in your life, I know they fill you with gladness... another g-word!

You are doing awesome with the A-Z, and this was a great group of gathered words for it! :-)
