That was quick.
Not so much the fact that Thankful Day has come around so fast, but the weather and what it does, and how it changes.
Last Saturday, there were once again murmurings that we were in the possible line of bad weather. Instead of letting it bother me, we took Coda to NOLA and we had a great time. We are always thankful to be able to do that.
On Sunday, Sweetie was back singing with the church choir, and we are so thankful. They can only have half the choir at a time, they have to spread out on the stage and wear masks any time they are not up there singing, but it's wonderful to see him back up there again.
Monday morning, i worked and fielded phone call after phone call, and i am thankful i can work and coordinate other stuff at the same time.
Mr. Mike, the Generator Guy, was supposed to come on Tuesday. Could he come Monday instead, so as to be ahead of any possible weather? Sure, i said, and then i got Sweetie to make sure he would be home, and also had to get him to come to my work place and get the check for Mr. Mike.
Yes, thankfully, Sweetie was able to come, and he was able to get my prescriptions that were ready, and he would be home for the afternoon.
It turned out my Monday afternoon client was not well, so i was thankful to be back before Mr. Mike showed up, as i got to talk with him about several things and confirm several things.
Thankfully we were also able to help him load up the old, dead generator and make a place where the used one in good condition we are getting will go in a couple of weeks.
Then came news that most likely instead of our area, the area where we love to spend our yearly summer vacation would be hit by a storm. Indeed, it was hit, and hit hard.
We are thankful that DiDreaming, my friend from the Mobile area, got rain and not a lot else.
The Flora-Bama Lounge and Package Liquor, where i go to church when on vacation (yes, the owner wants people to drink responsibly and sponsors a church and an addiction recovery group) was flooded, but it's not the first time. They wring out the tent, set up a couple of lean-to areas, and get back to business. Not much phases them, i think.
On Wednesday, Ms. G gave me several cans of cat food for my elderly cats that need a supplement, and i am always thankful for extra food for them. Then on Friday, at the shelter, they gave me even more cans that were donated and they can't use (they keep the ones they can use of course).
Thursday saw Sweetie working out at the farm with The Big Boss, so some extra pay, plus he told us to buy a tank of gas for Lunceford the Land Yacht next time it is empty.
Coda is thankful for walks in the woods, and for the fact that i am getting better at throwing her ball as long as i throw underhanded. My shoulders are toast so no throwing the standard way here.
Bigger Girl wrote me back after i emailed her. She is doing well in California, and i am thankful (so is she).
Today i am thankful to be taking Coda to NOLA again, and thankful that Grandpa contacted me last night to tell me to come early since he has a computer guy coming. Telling me in the morning, it would be too late to get there early!
We're also thankful we were able to get several copies of a local magazine that he wanted, i am taking them to him today.
Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.
