Sometimes you just want to shine a beam of light into someone’s very dark and dreary world.
Yesterday i had 3 jobs, my volunteer job at the shelter was first and it went well, there were a lot of litter boxes to clean.
Ms. G had me fetching, toting, and moving stuff, and i got the regular work done, too.
When i got to Ms. S’s, her daughter-in-law had her at the dentist, and i cleaned and tidied and when she came back, i helped her d-i-l with getting her Christmas decorations out and other fun stuff.
Then Ms. JAI called and begged me, instead of coming to the visitation that night for an hour, would i please come stay at the house for the whole four hours so it would not be empty; one time when they left a house empty during a funeral visitation, they came back to find it had been robbed and ransacked, and they were afraid it might happen again.
No matter how long your day has been, sometimes you just have to shine that beam of light into someone’s very dark and dreary world.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
Well, i like clowns at the circus,
But not at the "fun house."
Those places are at best creepy,
So i’ll sneak away like a mouse!

Brian of Brian's Home hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. It's time to share something for which i am thankful.
Today i am thankful #1 Son was finally able to claim that drum set we got for free. He has always wanted to play, and knows some, but now he has a whole set to enjoy. Also, #2 Son is looking into guitar lessons. They are using all of that musical training we worked so hard to give them as children!

Thank you for your much needed support for Ms. JAI.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were able to prop up your feet and enjoy a good book or even a nap while house-sitting. And yes, it was the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteFestive Fences.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Around here lots of fences have pretty lights on them, haven't seen any with other decorations. It is sad about funerals, but around here for years people have someone at their home because it may be robbed if no one is there since it is usually advertised. Humans can be so terrible.
ReplyDeleteIt may be tiring but when people turn to you for help that means you are dear to their heart and they can rely on you to be there for them. May God bless you with good health and strength to help those needy souls.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to fit housesitting in, that was very nice. Those fences are very pretty and that is a cute poem. Those were fun thankfuls too. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteClowns can be nice but the clown in " IT " was scary.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
Busy, busy, busy in your world! I love it when folks get playing music, good for your sons! I agree on clowns, spooky!
ReplyDelete...thereby adding to the light in an all-to-often dark world
ReplyDeleteYou had a long day yesterday. I'm glad it worked out for you and for Mrs. JAI. That's a load off ones shoulders for sure.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem. I agree that those places are creepy and scary.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, my friend. ♥
What a great reminder that we need to be a light unto the world. And it's nino rota's birthday, I love his music.
ReplyDeleteGreat Poem and Thankful. Hope you feel the same after practice night mol

Thank you for helping Mrs. JAI. It's really awful that she had to be afraid that her house might be broken into while attending a funeral visitation.
ReplyDeleteI never forgot my musical training I had as child as well, I hope your sons will have lots of fun!
sadly, Ms Jai was/is correct. This happened to a neighbor where mom lives; how D low can people get...that you have to ROB a house that's burying a loved one....
ReplyDeleteweezer { grandmother } would have ENJOYED apple pie day !!! ♥♥♥☺☺☺
You one of the kindest person ever! Big hugs to you every day! Beam us up Mimi!
ReplyDeleteYes you do, Mimi, and because you are so willing to do that your own light shines even brighter. Thank you for being who you are.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. I completely understand not wanting to leave the house unattended. We have had someone stay here when we go to weddings funerals, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou are most definitely a light that shines, Mimi. What a full day. There isn't anything in today's post that isn't uplifting! Lovely fence decorations, your poetry never disappoints and hurray for #1 and #2 sons! Time to make some music :D
ReplyDeleteThere's a pitiful attempt at a holiday fence at a house near my home, a single skinny strand of silver tinsel looped between three or four of the steel uprights of the gate.
ReplyDeleteYour kindness shines brightly for those in need and those who need you. What a thoughtful soul you are. Loving all the shares here and the poetry. Everything is so much fun! Hurrah for #1 and #2 sons! Musical talent is amazing! HUGS across the miles XO XO XO XO XO
ReplyDeleteAnd you are that awesome beam of light.
ReplyDeleteI did that for a friend a few years ago when her 18 year old son died tragically. I sat in their quiet house for several hours and felt the presence of that sweet boy the whole time. Nice 6, Mimi.
