Long Week, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

 ***********************************

It's a great day to be Thankful Day.

Grandma really loved Bigger Girl's bread.  She liked it so much, Sweetie and i only got once slice each!  We're thankful she sent it, and thankful it was good so we could truly tell her so.

One day this week, it was late, i was tired, and i found one more bag of garbage (cat litter) to take out for pick-up the next day.  How i didn't want to bother taking it out, and how thankful i am that i did, since i found the lights on in my car!  Yes, i would have awakened to a dead car battery and a scramble to get to work, sometimes i am thankful for what did not happen.

Becca had a great day on Sunday.  We went to the Dollar Tree and bought the glass pebbles you put in the bottom of a fish tank to use as spare pieces for some of the games.  It's way no fun to pull out a game and you can't play because you are missing some pieces, and now we have plenty.

We also had a walk, and that especially made the dog, Mr. Cal, very thankful and happy.

Ms. PA has been talking to me about taking all the books she's done reading and finding a new home for them.  She was thankful that we both remembered, i got them bagged and in the car, and since they are mostly mysteries and Grandpa loves mysteries, i'm taking them to him today.

She also gave me a coffee mug that is similar to one i have had for about 40 years now.  It's a style of mug i really like, and i haven't seen another one in a long time, i am thankful to have it and will think of her and Mr. Jack whenever i see it.

Coda got dropped off Tuesday morning, and we've had a great time.  Twice we've met new dogs and made new friends.

We're thankful she can chase the birds and squirrels all she wants, she cannot catch them.  It keeps her busy!

Wednesday i finished up with work early for which i was thankful, it meant an hour to sit and read and relax.

Sweetie and i are thankful to have survived Thursday, it was a very long work day.

In fact, when i got up Thursday morning, i was thinking about how much i just didn't want to go to work that day.  Then my Bible verse of the day popped up, "Do all things without complaining and grumbling." Philippians 2:14  There's a thankful thing, the discipline of the Lord.  He corrects those He loves.

Friday saw two full garbage bags of weeds pulled at Mr. BA's house, and there are plenty where those came from -- job security!

It has been a long, good week, and i am blessed and thankful for it.

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Dyanne and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  1. That is quite a list. I am very glad that you spotted the lights on before the battery ran flat and possibly even gladder that in your long and busy week you got a little interlude to sit and read.

  3. What a great long list of thankfuls. I love that Bible quote. Not easy though, not to complain or grumble. Sometimes smiling is the hardest thing to do. But, oh, so worthwhile.

  7. I'm thankful for the cooler weather we are having this week and the cooler nights all the time now that autumn is settling in at last.
I'm NOT thankful that I keep forgetting to go out and water the plants. Most of them don't need it, but the tomato plants do.

  8. Great thankfuls. Good idea to get pebbles to use as game pieces. My Penny recommends using pennies. :)

  9. sounds like a good week
Don'cha love those 'bullets missed'? It doesn't always happen that we're given the opportunity to notice a future that did not come to be, but, like your car, when we do... its very fun to notice.
    have a great week

  12. I love the idea of getting glass pebbles to use for the missing game pieces. Isn't it interesting how a scripture turns up in one's reading just when you need it? Grandpa must have been delighted to receive a whole bag of new books to read! Hope you have a wonderful week coming up.
