Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays. Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.
Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you. What better way to start the week than with a smile!
While tending critters at Ms. GA and Mr. BA's house over the weekend, this chap stopped by quite boldly to help himself to the proffered cat chow and wash it in the water trough. He's cute, and the cats just ignore him now, but don't be fooled. He's not tame, just fearless, so i was careful and gave him a wide berth as i toted the hose around watering plants.
In the photos, you can see Miss Alice walk past him and you also see her and Puddin' sitting on the patio while he's eating. Little Buddy ran by but wouldn't stop for a picture.

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week. While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too. Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!
This week the theme is Newspapers.
There are those who say,
newspaper has had its day.
The thought fills me with dread,
how will i do crosswords in bed?
*******
When i was a child and the puppy
had an accident and left a mess,
and got a swat with a rolled up newspaper
did he get a distorted view of the press?
*******
Several years ago we decided
the price of TV gave us the blues,
we opted to get rid of it,
and people ask, how do you get the news?
I look at them like they're mad things
and i say, "Well, there's radio, plus,
we get a paper, read headlines online,
and if the world ends, they'll inform us!

I love my daily paper and the time I spend doing the puzzles.
ReplyDeleteRaccoons are cheeky little opportunists!
The visitor is indeed cute - though I would give him lots of space.
ReplyDeleteI love our newspaper. Television? Not so much.
Smiling at your paper poems.
Dearest mimi,
ReplyDeleteI heartily thank you for another stunning post of yours, your shots and your quotes are amazing!
With utmost gratitude for hosting too,
I'm wishing you a wonder-filled Awww Monday and new week
X Daniela @ ~ My little old world ~ (Dany)
Those are so cute, but I would give them a wide berth too. So cute though.
ReplyDeleteLove your Sparks and love your take on newspapers. That last one made me laugh out loud.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Hugs. ♥
When I lived in New York, we had many raccoons stopping by. They can be cute, but I do give them their own space :)
ReplyDeleteThey may look cute but they can destroy a lot of things in your home. I had two big ones tear into my roof and I had to get a company to fix up the mess that they made. I don't like them at all.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
That racoon is adorable. I'm sure it can be mean, but it is super cute.
ReplyDeleteRacoons can be so bold ~ sweet photos of your kitties and hope they are safe ~ fun quotes about the newspaper ~ lol ~ thanks,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

I hope the cats don't get sick from the raccoon in the food. Nice poem and spark. XO
ReplyDeleteThose are good Sparks! Watch that visitor, lots of times the ones out in the daylight hours are not well.
ReplyDeleteYour newspaper poems made me giggle. Your visitor looks cute, I never saw a raccoon outside of the Zoo, and it all, veranda, plants and visitor looks very exotic to me. Most of those flowers are house plants here.
ReplyDeleteI go with Mark Twain on the issue of newspapers ;)
Little thief!
ReplyDeleteLong live the newspaper!!! (Great poems!!!)
