Another Full Week, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

It's been quite a week, and i am always happy to get to Thankful Day.

Red-Headed Alec finally came to visit and get his birthday gift.  He's working for a landscaping company, and with all of the rain, they are way behind, so i am very thankful he had a few minutes to spare.

Sunday evening, i went to visit a neighbor i hadn't talked to in quite a while.  She's doing well and her daughter was on the way, they were going to travel to visit relatives.  It's nice to catch up.

On Monday, #1 Son had arranged to drop his car off with Kevin and Lenny.  Nothing major, it just needed an oil change, a good once-over, and a new inspection sticker.  Thankfully, Sweetie was able to pick him up from there and take him to work, then go get him from work and take him back to get Bessie Low-Key.  Everything checked out fine, and it passed inspection with the recently-glued-back-on right side mirror.

Ms. JAI, who is down to only needing me once a month, is doing well, and i'm thankful i was able to help her move the lawn mower, the lawn guy had left it out!

The shelter Wednesday morning held a surprise -- a wet floor.  Since i get there before work, i am the first one in the building on Wednesday mornings, so i have to turn on the lights.  The hallways are set up so you can go all the way around, and i usually head to the back from the left side after signing in by the front desk which is on the left in the front.  This time, for some reason, i went the other way and it turned out to be good and thankful thing that i did, as i would have stepped on that wet floor in the dark and possibly ended up falling.

The water was from the leaky roof, which was being replaced that very day.  We're thankful the roofers showed up bright and early (although not quite as early as me).

Later that day, Ms. G offered me extra pay to do weeding, so i did, and i am thankful i didn't pass out.  It did leave me a bit heat sick for a day or two, but that was my fault, i stayed out there too long.

For all the years i've been going to Ms. G's house, she is one of the clients who has never given me a key to her place or let me be there alone for more than just her running a short errand.  It has nothing to do with trust, she is just a bit of a micromanager.  Well, when i finally came in from outdoors to do the inside work, it was time for her to go to a meeting, and she not only let me stay and finish, she let me set the alarm and lock the door (just the knob, not the bolt).  It's a start to showing her it's okay for her to let me come even if she can't be there, and i'm thankful.

While i was at Ms. V's on Thursday, Sweetie dropped Horizon with the vet to get clipped and brushed out, and we're thankful it is done and he's feeling better.  We're also thankful it did not cost that much.

After he dropped off the cat, he came all the way over to Ms. V's to tell me he'd dropped of the cat.  (He was nervous about leaving his baby, so he couldn't call, he had to be reassured in person that everything would be okay, and it was.)  It was a thankful thing he did come, as Carl's room has been getting darker and darker by the week and more and more of the light bulbs in his notoriously hard to change light fixtures burn out.

Sweetie was there and so i told Ms. V i was going to get those bulbs and he was going to help me.  He spotted me on the ladder, and i'm thankful because i couldn't have done it otherwise.

Thankfully i was able to figure out those fixtures, too, they are truly a nightmare to deal with (whoever designed them probably has the spouse change all the bulbs at home!).

Ms. S has been getting weaker again, and i was glad to see on Friday she had a bit of her spunk back.  It's not very far off that she will need full time help that i cannot give her, but i'm thankful it's not today.
