Protest (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy's Poetry Day, and Brian's Thankful Thursday

 ***********************************

My cats only sort of get along.

Oh, Link Linker Stinker and Dansig the Round are best buddies, but they are the only cats in the house that really and truly like each other.

Tripod SissyCat is learning not to hiss when Dansig sniffs at her as he means no harm, and she doesn't generally get into it much with Link, note the word "much".

The Charismatic Enigma SissyCat hates every other animal that exists, unless she can eat it, and then she only likes it when she's eating it.

They all share a deep distrust of, if not outright dislike of, dogs.

Jock is here for a few days, Tripod SissyCat is giving me the side-eye, Dansig has betaken himself to the furniture tops, Link and Enigma Sissy are using language that is downright forcible, and i am starting to wonder if the cats are going to put aside their differences, band together, and stage a protest!

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Band.

Never ask a cat's opinion about a dog.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

A fence from the past (because the picture i tried to take yesterday turned out horrid).

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day This week's image and my poem:

I wanted to live

a fairy tale life

quiet and peaceful

not full of strife.

Instead I inherit

the kids and a shoe

and at first I just did not

know what I would do.

I decided that I'd

put my hand to this plow,

there'd be no going back,

no way and no how.

We had an adjustment,

it took us some time,

we now love this life

though not always sublime.

There's not always extras

when push comes to shove,

but I guarantee we've got

plenty of love.

  1. Love your poem. And the cats disliking each other (and everything else) is very, very familiar. Jazz used to growl at visitors. Loudly.

  2. Ah, the mind of a cat - something I do not even pretend to understand. But you describe them so well. I have the feeling you might just be right and that they will band together against that handsome dog!

  3. Not all cats like dogs. Sophie never liked us much, but Bert would like to be a dog himself and he likes to hang around with us.

  4. "betaken himself to the furniture tops,
What an excellent phrase... totally re-imagined the interior of our house (which is, from this new perspective) kind coastal lowlands, occasional rise with vain ambitions to be a hill, but mostly sitting by the tv shoreline

  6. Cats vs dog. You may be right. They could gang together and see how best to get chase the dog away. If only we understand their language. Love your poem.

  7. Sorry kitties, but that pup is a real cutie. That was a good poem too. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  8. Kitties like you or not and usually not. Love the poem. I don't think you need to worry about the cats ganging up to protest. That would take to much energy.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, my friend. Big hug. ♥

  12. Those kitty names! And that pup looks like a sweetie...surely the Meows will come around if he just ignores them? 😉😻

  13. By their names alone, we know them to be very unique and "independent" felines.
Unfortunately for Jock, he will have no new feline friends in that bunch, lol
A dog, even if only for 3 days, is a wonderful thankful.
