Family Words (Cajun Joke) and Sunday Selections

 ***********************************

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Yesterday we were talking with Grandma about ordering food for Mother's Day, next Sunday (today is her birthday, and we brought this gifts yesterday, and will bring more next week).

Over the years we've tried lots of restaurants and plenty of Mother's Day Buffets.  We have code names for many of them, places we've gone so often we don't refer to them by name, but by a nickname or code word we use just for that restaurant.

Back when Aline be a li'l fille, Boudreaux done ax her, "Where you t'ink we can take you Mère fo' Mother's Day?"

Aline be quick to say, "Crocodile!"

An' Boudreaux say, "Crocodile?  What dat mean?"

An' Aline say, "You know, Père, de place dat gots de store wit' all de fun stuff we can buy when we be wait to sit down."

An' Boudreaux say, "Ah, de Cracker Barrel!"

Den Aline say, "Da's it, de Crocodile!"

An' Boudreaux say, "Aline, say you de word, 'cracker.'"

Den Aline say, "Cracker."

"Now say, 'barrel.'"

"Barrel."

"Now say, Cracker Barrel.'"

"Crocodile!"

Clothile done walk in an see Boudreaux shakin' hims head an' she ax, "What be goin' on?"

An' Boudreaux say, "We be talkin' 'bout where we goin' on Mother's Day."

"An' what you done decide?"

An' Boudreaux say, "Mais, you be de recipient o' a trip to de Crocodile!"

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It was hosted by River, who still participates, and is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

Friday morning started with one of our monsoons, and all day Friday and Saturday were gray, with Saturday sparking more storms.  Then, just before sunset, it started to clear up and we were glad to see the sun again.
