Crazy Ducks and Avoiding Disasters, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

I'm thankful it's the first Thankful Day of 2024, and if you haven't heard it from me yet, i do pray you have a blessed and beautiful year.

I'm thankful for Botts Dots and raised reflective markers on the interstate.  Turns out, when it's still raining but the sun is pouring out of the west between the clouds and it's so bright reflecting off the road you can't see the white lane marking stripes, you can stay in your lane using the dots and markers.

I'm thankful the crazy Muskogee duck that decided to waddle slowly across the street right in front of me while i had two other cars on my tail that probably would have rear ended me if i'd braked too hard changed his mind as i tried to swerve at the last minute and flew out of danger. 

After last week's medical procedure on Friday set me on my can, i was thankful to power through Saturday at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and i was very thankful it was the day Sweetie comes to help me clean.

Sunday morning, i got to Becca's and she had just started her breakfast.  She ate, we did teeth and meds, took Mr. Cal for his walk, then sat on the couch to read and she almost fell asleep.  Ms. A came out of her room, also looking tired, and said, "We have a big New Year's Eve planned with friends, so I think we'll stay home and rest up this morning."

I was thankful we'd already had the walk, as Mr. Cal really gets upset if we can't walk, and i helped Becca back to bed for a nap then went to church.

Ms. S texted me while i was at Carl's Monday morning.  "When you come over, just pull up behind Mr. D, he's not going anywhere today as he has football to watch!"

I'm thankful we were able to do the same thing we did last year when he had football to watch, we stayed out of each other's way and i cleaned that room during halftime!

Ms. D has been sick, and she told me not to come last week, so i worked her in this week.  I was thankful i did as now she's not only going to need more help, she'd going to be making decisions about whether she can stay in her home or needs to move to be closer to her children.  I'm thankful she's open to making changes, some people her age are not.

The shelter is not very crowded right now (it's not kitten season) so i was thankful to get to Ms. G's early.  I got all the regular work done, plus we went shopping (which someone said sounds like easy work and it would be except i'm the one schlepping 20lb. bags of cat food and 30lb. bags of bird seed and 40lb. containers of cat litter and flat cases of cold drinks and cases of water at the store and again back at the house) and then we got out of season bedding stored.

We're thankful it did not freeze Thursday night, although it rather felt like it.  We will get a freeze later next week, and that's soon enough.

I'm thankful Ms. V and i have wonderful conversations when i'm cleaning her house.

I'm very thankful i didn't fall down the stairs.  Follow the iron-clad rule, always hold the rail!

Ms. GA and Mr. BA are out of town again, for his sister's wedding.  I'm thankful the work at the shelter went quickly again so i was able to get over there early.  I'm also thankful for the extra income cat care affords.

Finally, i'm thankful our hostess seems to be back and feeling better!
