Schedules, Traffic Fines and Healthy Aging, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

 ***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  http://stacyuncorked.com

When last i left Carl's place, he had no schedule posted for this week.  He gets his schedules 3 weeks in advance, and he had next week, but not this week, last week.  (Confused yet?  I am.)

Anyway, i'd asked him where the schedule was for this week and he said something about thinking he left it in the printer at work, so i suggested he reprint it posthaste so he wouldn't be late or miss a day.

Yesterday i arrived to a beautiful mess.

The laundry room had Mr. L's laundry in the washer, Carl's in the dryer, and a nice pile of Carl's on top of the dryer which i used the sniff test to determine was clean.

Luckily, the light in the laundry room decided to work yesterday, so i didn't have to use the little battery operated lanterns they've put in there.

Of course they have lanterns to try to light up the laundry room.  The ballast in the main light needs replacing and that requires an electrician and we all know that's too expensive.

I've learned when the light works, enjoy it and turn it off when leaving the room so it won't overheat and hope it works next time, because it might or might not.

Anyway, he had a schedule for the week posted on the fridge, but later i found another one.

Yes, it's in a grocery sack and mostly wet.  Yes, i threw it away.  Knowing Carl, he didn't leave the first one in the printer, he just stuffed it in a bag and had it in the car and then put something wet in there with it.

He does have work every day this week, but next week he's off, which should be fun.  As always,  he went to his sleep chair in the living room while i tried to tackle what he'd done to his closet.

As always, once he was up he was quite talkative between the courses of his breakfast.

"I'm going to a move Wednesday with Samantha, but don't know what we'll see," he told me.  Samantha is the girl he is a bit sweet on.  Taking her to a movie means his mom will make him clean his car, which will mean boxes in the hallway.  They'll probably still be there next week.

"There's something to do Tuesday," he went on.  "Cooking party!"

I never could quite get what he meant by that, but i did understand, "There's a splash pad day at the other church on Thursday..."

He's a big kid, he loves playing in the water.  He'll probably bring one of his water cannons.

About this time, i was sorting through his dirty laundry and ran across his checkbook.

You don't want to leave your checkbook in your dirty clothes, i told him.  Put it in the drawer where it belongs.

"Did it bounce?"

Did what bounce? i asked.

"The check."

I wouldn't know, you don't write checks to me any more, your mom does and then she transfers the money from your account to cover it.

"Oh."

He then headed to the kitchen with the checkbook.

Whoa, i told him, you need to put it away.

"But I have a traffic fine," he said.  He does like to leave for work at the last minute and drive rather fast.

You can pay it online, i told him.

"I already wrote a check," he said and headed for the kitchen.  No, i do not know why he couldn't simply tear the check out and take it and leave the checkbook where it belongs.

How much do we want to bet next week his checkbook is missing and the fine hasn't been paid?

He also talked about going to Harbor Freight.  "I need one of those big pads," he told me and i hope he gets one, whatever it is and whatever it's for.

As it came down to crunch time getting him out the door, he asked, "Raincoat?"

Haven't seen it in your room, check the car.

"Water bottle?"

You have a bottle of iced tea, when you're done with it, refill it with water.

"Um, there's a robe thing..."

I wouldn't know it if i saw it, and you need to scoot!

He scooted.

Later, i told Ms. V to be on the lookout for his paper traffic fine and checkbook floating around the kitchen.  She was all dressed up to go out to lunch, as it was her birthday.

"I'm 80!  Can you believe it!  I am so thankful for my health at this age."

She looks much younger than her years, is still as active and able to do things as ever.

In honor of women "of a certain age," some funnies.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!
