Then Shut the Door, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus. 

It seems Carl's work has settled into a later start time than he wants, thus the "I need more sleep" boogie begins.

I walk in and go right to the laundry room to see what he has in store.

Where is the top?

Of course, it's at the back of the cabinet, where else would it be?

Once I have determined if the dryer is full (not this time) and if the washer is full (yes), i have to decide if he actually washed the clothes or just set a rinse cycle and thus they are not clean.

They were clean, and went in the dryer, then i went to move him to his sleep chair.

He got up and headed out with his blanket and extra pajamas he likes to use instead of pillowcases (as they are softer than his pillowcases, and no, i cannot convince Ms. V to buy him pillowcases of that material, it's a lost cause).

Then he came back for a pillow.

Then he came back to brush his teeth.

Then he came back to tell me it was too loud in there for him to sleep with me having the radio softly playing in the background in his room.

Please note, i'd closed three doors behind him the first time he went out there, the door to his room and both hallway doors.

He reopened them to come in for the pillow and i closed them.

I was busy and didn't reclose them as i was otherwise occupied.

When he informed me, i reminded him he could and should close the doors to shut out the noise.

It was almost as if it were a new idea to him, which it probably is almost every time.  Shutting doors isn't his strong suit, ask the neighbors who have called more than once to tell Mr. L or Ms. V the carport door is wide open.

On these days when he's not out of the house early, i have to reverse the order of the laundry and do the towels first, and for some reason, every single one of this six towels was dirty.

Off to the spare linen closet!

Once he got up, i showed him he had everything he needed in the bathroom, as always, and told him not to come out until dressed.

Three great things happened, not quite miracles, but close.

First, he didn't come out until he was dressed, second, he had emptied his trash can and not thrown a whole lot of trash in it, it was still empty (still no bag, but that's way too much to hope for) and he only had a very small pile of actual clothes which needed washing.  He'd neglected the towels, which his mom, Ms. V later told me were all dirty because he showers again when he comes home hot from work, but he'd done a great job on keeping up with clothes washing.  Everything on the hangers was clean.

It was a banner accomplishment for him, even if half the clothes were inside out or only halfway on the hanger.

While he was eating and getting ready, he came in and out of his room and chatted away about a book his brother was reading, although no, he doesn't remember the title but it's a really good book, and his weekend.

It seems a friend came, and he and said friend got to eat Greek food and go to a movie, and best of all, his dad, Mr. L, felt well enough to go along.

Carl adores going to movies with his dad, and Mr. L is rarely able to do that any longer.  It was a real treat for all of them.

They saw Despicable Me 4, a cartoon movie mostly aimed at kids, but Carl is a big kid, and so are his friend and his dad.  They had a wonderful time.
