And in other critter news, there is a movement now in the US to allow military dogs, when they are retired, to be adopted by the handlers with whom they worked overseas.
This sounds like something that should have happened many years ago. Animals, no matter what the military says, are not weapons. They may be considered property, but they are living property and deserve consideration beyond what you would give a mere physical, non-living item.
Around here, summer has finally started. It's swim team time, they start practice today. That makes it official.

What a good idea to allow the dogs to be adopted by their handlers. I wonder if that is possible with police horses too, assuming that there is space to keep them.

I'm with you on the selfies. I avoid seeing myself up that close as much as possible. Also agree about the military dogs.
ReplyDeleteI just cannot get into the selfie thing either. Some times, for a special occasion maybe, but not a daily thing for sure. And some people are daily selfie takers. I tend to unfollow those sorts on Instagram or whatever. Like how often do I need to see your face? honestly.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea about the dogs!! I know the K9 officers on the police up here have the option of keeping their dog once they, or the dog, retires. Normally the dog is so used to that particular person, they don't adjust well with anyone else anyway.
