Mr. Cal and the Squirrels (Awww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week and Poetry Monday

 ***********************************

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

Mr. Cal loves to watch the squirrels.  The squirrels seem to take delight in tempting him.

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!

This week the theme is Avocados.

Halve and take out pit

Sprinkle with good seasoning

Avocado joy

*******

I bought some avocados

while at the store one day,

no premade guacamole,

I do it my own way.

My taste buds are so picky,

I'm not a restaurant guac-a-phile,

For my favorite homemade recipe,

well, I would guac-a-mile!

I went to a Tex-Mex restaurant

to meet up with my friends,

one treated the table to appetizers,

their guac's supposedly high end.

But I declined to try it,

I preferred the salsa feast,

they made a big deal of it,

it was guac-ward, to say the least.

They finally realized I meant it,

and I ordered the salsa instead,

my friends think I've hit guac bottom,

and I'm touched in the head!

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

I'm several years younger than he, and he wanted to call me his "trophy wife."  He dropped that plan when i asked him if i'm the trophy, does that make him the consolation prize?

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It was hosted by River, who still participates, and is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

Our church's choir director and his wife are expecting.  They announced it's a girl with a "pretty in pink" party.

A member of our church turned 90, and some friends and her Sunday school class gave her a surprise party.

A few random photos, and a very few sky shots.  We haven't had many colorful sunsets the last week or so.

Yes, Ms. JAI parks on carpet in her garage.  No, i don't know why.

Thanks to Little Buddy, another one bites the dust at Ms. GA's house.
(I cleaned the mess and took it all outside)
