"How many pictures do you have on that phone?" he asked the younger man.
"Oh, I don't know, a couple thousand, maybe," was the answer.
"And all of them are good and worth keeping?" he probed a bit further.
"Well, I wouldn't say that, necessarily -- there are probably some I should get rid of, but when do I have the time?" came the younger man's reply.
"Sort of like in the old days, when did we have time to drop the rolls of film off at the pharmacy so they could process them, I remember I used to forget and had to always make a special trip back over there," he reminisced.
"So they could what?" asked the younger man, confused, to which he replied, "Oh, never mind."

Brian of Brian's Home hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. It's time to share something for which i am thankful.
Let's see, it's July 4, Independence Day, so what am i thankful for? For freedom, of course, the freedom to worship how i choose, live where i choose, work where i choose, create my own work if i can't get hired, and within a few limits, go where i choose.
It's a wonderful life!

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
It wasn't really a dark and stormy night,
There was no reason for any real fright,
There was just some fog that happened to stay
To shroud the trees that winter's day.
The street lights shone 'til almost noon,
I walked along and hummed a tune,
Alone with my thoughts I was happy to stay
Shrouded in fog on that winter's day.
I knew the damp mist would not last long,
The peace and quiet would end in song
Of hustle and bustle, for fog does not stay
For all of the whole of a winter's day.
Enjoy the wandering while you can
Away from the prying eyes of man,
The solitude of fog just does not stay
When it rarely comes on a winter's day.

ReplyDeleteGreat SSS.
I like the poem you wrote too.
Happy Independence Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day. I remember saving up to get photos processed - and hoping that there weren't too many 'duds'.
ReplyDeleteGreat fence. HappyIndependence Day
ReplyDeleteWe just have to remember that freedom is not free.
ReplyDeleteThat was a purrfect story a terrific poem and a darn good thankful! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop and Happy Independence Day from all of us!
ReplyDeleteTempting tho' it is to head to Marrakech (what a festival that must be!), I'm making today Jz Sits Tight Day - and milking that for all it's worth.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
What a wonderful post today! Happy Independence Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day from across the pond! It's funny to remember that once upon a time, every click of the camera cost us a bit of money! I took 70 photos on my phone during a walk yesterday - I can't imagine what that would have cost to have processed on film!
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi. Have a wonderful 4th of the July my friend. See ya.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
prints! (and the negatives in those semi-cellophane envelops)
ReplyDeletesuch an improvement! Surely digital photography has made us all better picture takers!
Have a good holiday try to remember tomorrow isn't Sunday lol
LOL That so sounds like me! Making the time to flip through tons of pictures I know I'll never look at again. Nice job illustrating how the same challenges exist perpetually, they simply manifest in current day terms.
ReplyDeleteThe poem is wonderful. An excellent blending of visual and emotional components. I look forward to reading more of your poetry:)
I remember the film days. I can't imagine having to do that now. I'm happy that I don't. How about going on vacation and getting an x-ray proof camera bag to protect your film. I remember that too.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem.
Have a fabulous Independence Day, my friend. ♥
Happy 4th of July. What a haunting picture and a wonderful poem. Yes many Danes celebrate today in Rebild Bakker (not me, as I live far from Rebild) - but I'm afraid the weather today has dampened the spirits. It's rainy and cold, not more than 12 degrees.
ReplyDeleteGood one!
ReplyDeleteThis is my story too, I never find time to clean off my phone, and so many are ones I really want to save. If I would only discipline myself to keep up with it daily! We often talk about taking pictures with cameras and then developing rolls of film, getting copies made to send to family if there were any decent ones, and often those were rare. Now I can take 20 selfies to get one I can live with. :-) Today's kids will never know the struggle. LOL Great story!
ReplyDeleteLove the fence with the flag! Would like to see more of that not just today but everyday!
Excellent poem. I like the story too,I feel so old :) Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteOh, the days of getting a roll of film developed and seeing which ones turned out! Nice use of the prompt!
ReplyDeleteWe live in historic times. We have seen so much 'progress'. Who'da thunk it...
ReplyDeletefun story and lovely fence photo for the 4th ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,
