Sad But Thankful, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

It is with a heavy heart that i must share the sad news that Uncle P, my brother and my children's uncle, died of a pulmonary embolism yesterday due to complications from Covid19.

Is there any thankfulness left after such a loss?  Of course.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning them which are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

~ 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

We are thankful not to grieve as those who have no hope.

Because Grandpa was a good friend of the doctors in the ICU, he and Grandma were thankful to be allowed to go see Uncle P, even though he was in an area where there are usually no visitors allowed.  His wife was also allowed to be with him.

We are thankful that yesterday, Sweetie saw his doctor and has been released, no longer needing oxygen and he can go back to his normal routines as he feels able.

Also thankful that Brother-in-Law got that same word from the doctor on Thursday.

Because it's been so long since Sweetie has had any symptoms, i'm also able to go back to my routine, so i'm thankful i got to go to NOLA last week and will be going again today.  It would be much harder to get through this if i was in quarantine.

Then too, all of my clients have been informed and are very sympathetic to the fact that i will be taking some time off to be with family.

There are the common blessings for which we are thankful, that there's a car i can use to make the trip, that Bigger Girl is offering to fly home, that my niece Bryn and nephew Dre are already with Grandma and Grandpa.  (Those are Uncle J's children, P and Miss Eva had no children.)

The blessing of a church family is huge at this time.  Pastors have called and friends have called and texted and we know everyone is thinking of us and that's such a comfort.

Much thanks to all of you, as well, i am very grateful for those who read and comment here, and who pray for us and think of us in these times.  It is my joy to write, it is my one outlet, so i will try to continue as i have time over the next few days.  My visits to your blogs may be few and far between for a few days, and i am thankful that you will understand.
