The young mother and her mom had boarded with the tiny child, hot, tired, and already wanting the trip to be over. The baby was happily babbling, oblivious to the fact that this was a momentous occasion, her first train ride.
About halfway through the trip, the inevitable happened, and baby had to, shall we put it euphemistically, do a doodle in her cloth diaper. While juggling the child and the new diaper (in the days before changing tables were ubiquitous), the situation became more, well, interesting, as two very firm turds rolled out of the diaper onto the floor and toward the seats ahead, coming to a stop right next to the very nice dress shoes of one of the men sitting in front of them.
The two ladies spent the rest of the trip trying to surreptitiously coax the two errant pieces of poop back toward them, all the while trying not to laugh and draw attention to themselves.
Eventually they succeeded, and to say it was a trip they never forgot was putting it mildly.

Gosia at Looking for Identity has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World. Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.
A neighbor's fence is being repaired, so how about a rare peek behind it.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
Step right up, folks!
We have what's right
For every taste
And appetite!
Every flavor
You can dream
We have it here
In the form of ice cream.

Smiling at your story.
ReplyDeleteI will pass on the ice cream though. I can take or leave (mostly leave) the stuff.
Don't build a fence around those cakes.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I'd rather not dwell on the picture you painted in your Six, Mimi!
ReplyDeleteA train trip that will not be easily forgotten by the ladies. The ice creams are so tempting. Slurps!
ReplyDeleteThat journey ... I can imagine. No, we never forget that kind of journeys!
ReplyDeleteIcecream when, Icecream where?
Tell me please, I'll be there!
You wrote a wonderful poem!
We love it when those privacy fences are opened up and we can have a peak! I guess we are truly nosy!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that was some train ride. Hugs to you and your family from all of us and thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteYour poems are amazing. Ice Cream is where I get downtown near the river.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
That story is too funny! Love the poem, and I love ice cream too.
ReplyDeleteOh I do remember those unsupported, inconvenient diaper days. And yes, it does go better with someone whom one laugh about it all.
ReplyDeleteYou gave me my best morning chuckle. Thanks!

Big healing hug on your thankful.
Have a blessed Thankful Thursday. Big hug. ♥
good take on the poem today and had to laugh at the story; thankfully the man ahead didn't want to stand up and "stretch his legs" !!! ☺☺♥♥
ReplyDeletePurrs in giving Uncle P's Eulogy. Great poem too
ReplyDeleteSWR*
ReplyDelete'cellent Six
*smiled while reading.
Thank you for the chuckle- that was a good story. Nice poem too. And you are the perfect person to write your Uncle's eulogy. XO
ReplyDeleteThere's a story you don't hear often...!
ReplyDelete:-D
Oh, dear, what a train trip! Was this based on true happenings?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, yes!
DeleteThis sure rings like a true story, hmmmm?
ReplyDeleteI had to change a poopy infant diaper while sitting in the middle seat of crowded plane, but no runaway turds!
I remember always putting plastic pants with elasticised legs over cloth nappies, most people here did, if we were going to be travelling anywhere. Nothing ever fell out. I hope I never have to give a eulogy speech, I would just stand there and cry.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem - ice cream is so TEMPTING especially in these super hot summers!! Thanks for playing along with us on Thursdays.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
I filled them out on SAndee's page! Have a great weekend. I like the praying idea, we need to pray for so many right now.
ReplyDeleteFor sure a trip to remember, lol.
ReplyDeleteCute poem, Mimi. Just finished mine!
It must be most difficult, writing a eulogy. I'm sorry to hear about Uncle P.
Fun Six, Mimi. Bet that's a story to tell to the baby once they're older. Glad there are far more public facilities for changing these days.
ReplyDeleteGood job but I wish I hadn't read your poem, now I want ice cream - yum!
ReplyDeleteYour story made me laugh out loud. The poem was summertime perfect. ALways my pleasure to be here. Take care
