Milestones and Music, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

 ***********************************

It's Thankful Day, so we've been home a week.  It seems like a snap and it seems like a long, long time.

The Saturday trip was uneventful except for the usual events, stopping to get a boatload of BBQ and bringing it to Grandpa for Father's Day.  A fun time is had by all and Grandpa ends up with enough BBQ for a few meals in the freezer.

We were thankful for a great trip and thankful the cats seemed to enjoy their own little vacation at the cat boarding "resort."  It was more expensive than paying the kids to come by and care for the cats, but the fact that we didn't have to worry if Dansig the Round was getting his insulin made it worth the extra expense.

It's not easy to be thankful for this particular Sunday past.  That won't stop me from finding something good to say.  Becca and i enjoyed our time together, we had an extra prayer partner in the prayer room, and i did not break down at the memorial service for baby SA.  Also, i got to spend time before the special service talking to a friend i hadn't sat and just talked with in a bit of a while.

Getting back into the rhythm of the workweek wasn't overtaxing, and i'm thankful for that.  Carl's place was a bit worse for a skipped week, as was Ms. GA's, but not too bad.

Even with work, i'm thankful to have gotten in a couple of naps.  We're very thankful the generator ran it's weekly test and seems to be all in order.

All three of the children who live here in town got by for a visit this week, and i'm always thankful to see them.

While i was on vacation, i indulged in something i've been threatening to do for a long time, i bought a cheap plastic purple ukulele and a book and i'm having fun learning to strum it.  No, i'm not a musician, and yes, i promise not to sing along when anyone has to hear me, but it's a fun diversion, i always thought it would be amusing and it is and i'm glad i did it.

The big plan of the week was getting ready for Sweetie and Brother-in-Law to go to their 50th high school reunion.  We're thankful they are around to go, thankful it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive, and thankful while they were down there they got to visit grave sites of family members.  They really enjoyed it, it was worth the time and effort and planning to pull it off so soon after vacation.

Grandma and Grandpa are thankful for their 60th wedding anniversary (and so are we) -- at least, they are thankful for it when they aren't being cranky with each other.

Also, home grown tomatoes.  You can't forget to be thankful for home grown tomatoes that a very elderly man out in the country grows right in his own yard where you can see them and sells them right off the highway.  Just wash and eat, your taste buds will thank you.

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Dyanne and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.
