Catch-Up, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

Last week i simply let my rEcess thankful list suffice, so i have some catching up to do.

Two Sundays ago, we had one of the first cool snaps of the upcoming season, just enough to tease us and make us thankful.  It was also enough to dry out Becca's sinuses, i think, because she suddenly had a nosebleed just as we were going to walk Mr. Cal.

Once everything was under control, we went for that walk, staying in the one block close to home and simply going around that block a couple of times.

Mr. Cal had been needing a "sanitary trim" and was scheduled to get one during the coming week.  Let's just say, the need came up sooner.

My thankful things for that morning were getting the nosebleed to stop, finding scissors and getting Mr. Cal's cooperation so he wouldn't make a mess in the house, and that we got to church only about 3 minutes late after all of that.

I was thankful i'd been able to change my schedule and get Ms. D to switch to Monday afternoon that week so i could have Tuesday to go to a church ladies' meeting.  We cleaned, we puttered, and we baked cookies.

Then i got to meet her friend, Mr. JP, who works on computers, when he came.  He agreed to get an old Mac of Grandpa's up and running for me, much cheaper than a new machine.  Now i'm being thankful for patience as i try to figure out how to use it.

The ladies' meeting was excellent, another thankful.

The extra volunteer work on Wednesdays is going well.  The employee who was supposed to be back at work re-injured herself her first day back, so my help will be ongoing for a couple of more weeks.

Ms. G, last week and this, has been getting her storage shed cleared out so it can be moved.  The whole place is topsy turvy and i'm thankful she's almost at the end of this adventure.  So is she!  (The parish/county has allowed their previous sewer leaks to cause a sinkhole under her shed, so she's moving it as we don't know if or when the parish/county will be dealing with said sinkhole.)

Two Thursdays ago, Ms. SE's kids were off school.  We were grateful they had places to go, things to do, and people to see.  They're nice kids, but it's not always easy to clean around them.

When Sweetie came with me last Saturday to do Grandma and Grandpa's house, we worked like crazy to get it done early so i could just sit and talk to Grandma for a while, always a pleasure.

This past Sunday was not quite so adventurous and i'm very glad about that.

Over the last two weeks, i've heard from both of my girls who are busy and happy, very thankful to a mama heart.

When i was at the Mall-Mart one day this week, i noticed the pharmacy wasn't busy so i went ahead and got that pesky flu shot i've been meaning to get since Oct. 1.  Thankfully i also got our Halloween candy and some clearance items i'd wanted to try but they were too expensive at full price.

This last Tuesday, miracle of miracles, i had a whole, complete, utter day off.  To me, a good day off is when you don't have to walk any further than your own mail box, and it was a good day off.

Friday was icing on the cake at the shelter.  We had lots of hands to make light work, and while i was there, two adoptions.  One kitten got adopted the first hour i was there, leaving her brother in the cage looking bewildered.  The next hour, her brother was adopted!  No time for him to be lonely, he has two little girls to take up his time now.
