It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Part of today’s post is also a writing challenge. This is how it works: one of the contributing bloggers picked a number between 12 and 50. The submitted number is a challenge to participating bloggers to write at least one piece using that exact number of words.
This month, the word count number is: 28
It was submitted by: yours truly.
Sometimes i wonder about what it must have been like to parent Carl, that would have been going uphill both ways. It really still is, to an extent.
Yesterday, he talked about going to the fair at the library this weekend. It was a "maker fair," with artisans and crafters teaching their techniques to all comers.
He said it was fun, but he only got to try three different things. Knowing him, he wanted to try to do every single one. He has ambition.
His ambition leads him to try more than he can handle, like the laundry. His mother says he does laundry daily, but when i come, everything is dirty.
He did better this week, the clothes in the dryer were really dry and he only left two items in the washer. As for next week, who knows?
It's still not sinking in that you cannot get stains out of carpet and car upholstery with laundry stain remover spray. The bottle was in the car again.
He was again trying to rub anti itch cream on his socks when i caught him, suggesting it go under the sock where it would do some good.
Of course, he complied right then. Tomorrow, he'll forget and do it the other way again. Most of his creams and lotions must work by the placebo effect.
Last Thursday, when i was cleaning the rest of the house, he had clean clothes in the dryer i had to remove to do laundry for his parents.
They want him to tidy and clean after himself as much as possible, so on Thursdays i'm not supposed to do things in his part of the house.
Instead of hanging those clothes, i laid them neatly over the back of a chair so he could put them away himself. That's where i found them yesterday.
Some things will never change, like his pulling out clean clothes and setting them right where they'll get dirty again. On his kitchen counter is a good example.
Still on a hanger, covered in powder and who knows what else. |

Carl would definitely be a handful, and I applaud his parent's attempts to help him become more self sufficient.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the funnies.
That dynamite funny ... NOT FUNNY!
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely not easy to parent Carl. You are a blessing to Carl and his parents.
ReplyDeleteGreat funnies, Mimi.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Raising a Carl would really take a lot of love and patience, as well as knowing you will be raising him forever. At least we dogs do learn and change so we get easier as we get older but a Carl is a permanent challenge that one has to just use love to deal with.
ReplyDeleteYour Funny Tuesday had me laughing and still laughing. Good stuff!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder, can Carl really understand some of these statements that you have tried to inform him about. It sounds like he can't.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Mimi.
Cruisin Paul
I love your posts about Carl. A whirlwind of confusion. Most entertaining and I would love him to pieces.
ReplyDeleteLove all the funnies. Being a parents is very trying at times. It's worth it, but trying at times.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Big hug, my friend. ♥
I can't help but respect Carl's spirit. He doesn't always succeed, but he keeps putting himself out there and he keeps trying.
ReplyDeleteI love the funnies! Thanks for the smiles, Mimi. And I find your Carl stories interesting and keep admiring the patience of his parents and you. Good for them for having goals and expectations for him, and good for you for respecting them even though it makes your job harder.
ReplyDeleteCarl entertains ~ sweet and fun Parent photos and captions ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your day ~

Carl is interesting!
ReplyDeleteOh, that Dad will get extra points from his Daughter. I don't remember doing any makeup, and his hair was much too short to do any hair dressing to. But I remember how patient he was when I painted his toes. Takes a very strong man, and a very good bar of soap to do that! :)
ReplyDeleteCat
Carl is a story waiting to happen, daily. Those were really good funnies.
ReplyDeleteCarl's parents must be very patient which is why God chose them for him. XO
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely a blessing to Carl and his parents as they navigate this windy road. :) Loved all the funnies!
