Where to Start, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

***********************************

It's been a week of changes in some things and i've hit Thankful Day wondering where to start.

How about the beginning, or actually, late last week.

Because my Sweetie's phone died and had to be replaced last month, we'd put off our annual generator servicing, and i finally bit the bullet and called, making an appointment for the next afternoon.

The next morning, when i thought i had time to shop, i got a call, Mr. O was on his way!  My Sweetie was working for The Big Boss, so i was thankful #2 Son answered his phone and agreed to get the guy started until i could get there.

We pay a small monthly fee for them to monitor the generator through our wifi (man, what they can't do these days!) and i found out, very thankfully, it includes the annual service!  Oil changed, new oil filter, new spark plug, and it's all good, and no extra money out of pocket.

On the way home from NOLA Saturday, the A/C in Lawrence the Honda was struggling.  I was thankful it worked well enough, and i'm thankful #2 Son now knows what's wrong and it will be fixed.  Another reason to be thankful the generator did not cost, it's going to be eaten up by the A/C in the car!

Ms. A was out of town and Mr. J had a Sunday off work so he took Becca to a church in NOLA and they went to the zoo.  I missed her but was thankful to sleep a half hour later Sunday morning and still have time to do a few things around the house before going to church.

I'm very thankful i was called upon for grandchild duty Sunday night, not just with Annie, and not just for our usual playtime and visit with Ms. D, but also i got to hold our little Ben for quite some time.  He's a snuggler!

On Monday, i was thankful to first be able to get to the laundromat and get some big items i can't do at Grandma's house in the wash and started drying before i met with Ms. H, the head of the cat shelter.  They are moving to a new facility at the end of August and are looking for a once a week janitor to do the break room and bathrooms.  I'm thankful she showed me around and offered me the job.  This means, come September, i will have work again on Monday mornings.

After meeting with Ms. H, i went to Ms. D and i was thankful she let me so some dusting and cleaning blinds.  While there, #2 Son, Daughter-in-Law, and both kids stopped by so she could meet the baby and so #2 Son could talk to her about her "honey-do" list she wants someone to tackle.  They agreed he would do the work over the next few weeks, a few items at a time, and they agreed on pay, and i was thankful because sometimes the handy people you hire around here can be a bit questionable if you don't get the right one.

Tuesday is where a few things started to go sideways again, after a thankfully delightful morning with Annie, #1 Son called in the afternoon, someone speeding illegally down a left turn lane demolished his car.

We're thankful no one was hurt, and i'm thankful #2 Son has GusGus running well again so at least #1 Son has transport to work until we figure out what to do next.

Ms. G and i were both thankful i was back on duty Wednesday as Ms. Sassy Floofypants and Mr. Gray have been redecorating the whole house with long gray and black floofy fur, so the vacuuming was much needed.

I was most thankful not to miss our summer Bible study this week, and thankful Reba Rambunctious dog was there waiting, such a sweet pup.

Ms. SE's boys are doing much better about helping around the house, doing their own clothes and making our job easier, and we're very thankful.  Also, i'm thankful Emmie and Cookie both behaved, well Cookie dog always behaves but Emmie had peed on the couch the night before but she was a very good girl for us (it helps to take her outside every two hours like clockwork).

I was thankful to lie down for a short rest when we got home after doing Ms. SE's house and then Ms. GA's house.  Doubles always make me a bit shaky by evening now.

#1 Son was thankful his brother loaned him one of their cars with A/C for him to go out of town, as GusGus is fine for work but not much else in this heat.

Friday evening at the shelter went very well, we were thankful for an extra volunteer when my usual Friday evening volunteer partner, Ms. M, wasn't able to come.  There were even two adoptions!

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Clark and his co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  1. It seems like it was better when we rode horses. It had no windows or doors, and hung clothes on the line. Of course, the life expectancy was 42, so it may not have been for the best.

  2. Thanks for the update and happy thankfuls. Blogger is once again not updating the Blogroll :( It seems your life is an endless car-shuffle, but a huge thankful that nobody got hurt!

  3. So sorry about the smashed car, hope the other person had insurance... we do not have insurance on our cars except for liability. they are so old, it cost to much and we would get nothing. If we get destroyed, up the creek without a paddle. to find something thankful about old cars is, the newer they are the more the insurance costs.
I did get the burden thing yesterday and I love you comment on my post about the innkeeper, samaritan and we are the beast of burden...

  5. So wonderful you have #2 son live close enough to help out with some very important projects around the house and with the car. I know you were missing when they move. You will miss all of them when they move especially that new baby boy. Congratulations on the September job. Happy Saturday
