Thankful IN the Hard Days, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

Let’s be clear, even i cannot always be thankful FOR the hard things, but i can always be thankful IN the hard things.  There is always, always something for which to be thankful when i get to Thankful Day.

Last Friday, i was very thankful to get the cat shelter done early so i could get to the clowder of cats at Ms. GA’s and take care of them only a little later than they are used to.

Saturday morning, i was thankful to get to the clowder and get on the road before the rain started.  I was also thankful to get to NOLA safely because it was another downpour of huge proportions.

The grocery shopping went well and Grandpa is thankful it didn’t take too long.  He hates having to go grocery shopping.

I was thankful i was able to change Grandma’s sheets while she was still in the bed, a skill for which i was never trained but which really was as straightforward as it seemed.

I’m thankful i got back in town just about the usual time for Ms. GA’s cats’ dinner, and thankful to get home.

Sunday morning started early again with the clowder and then going to Becca’s, then taking her to church.  Mr. Cal was very thankful for a good walk.

Right before church, Ms. GA texted me they were coming home early and wouldn’t need me that evening, so i’m thankful i was able to run back over after church and pick up the extra food bowls i’d left down and get them cleaned.  Some of the cats will not come eat while i am there (although the longer i care for them, the more likely they will put up with me), so i leave extra for those who aren’t around when i’m there.

That evening, i was very thankful for a visit with Ms. D.  Annie is to the point where she really likes going over, and Ms. D bought bubbles and we went on the back porch to chase bubbles until the mosquitoes chased us inside.

Monday, it was back to NOLA for Grandma care, and because i was there to take care of things, Grandpa got a much needed nap for which i was thankful.

Our ladies’ circle meetings are starting up for the year again this month, and i was thankful my Tuesday morning circle meeting was excellent.  It was wonderful to see everyone!

Then home to take care of Annie for the afternoon, a thankful i indulge as often as possible, and just as it was naptime is when the hard comes in.

I am very thankful no one was injured when the front passenger tire came off of my Sweetie’s Pontiac, Slow-Moe.

I am very thankful #2 Son came with me to see what we could do, and the tow truck did not take long.

I am very thankful the tow driver was able to get it loaded safely and to Kevin and Lenny’s.

#2 Son is thankful Annie took a nap after we got back.

My usual Wednesday morning shift at the cat shelter went well, thankfully, and Ms. G didn’t keep us out in the heat for too long.

Bible study that evening was a good one, i’m very thankful Ms. S is still the hostess as she lives so close to us.

Sweetie’s and my double cleaning Thursday started with a bang, Ms. SE’s house was not easy.  We are thankful it went smoothly and Emmie pup did her business outside twice, which always helps.

Friday with my Annie was a very good one, i’m thankful she is mostly cheerful and easy to keep entertained.

Then came rEcess.  Yes, it’s that time again.  We were very thankful for all the volunteers, the special needs kids, their siblings, the jambalaya, the art room, playing hide and seek in the dark all over the church (just the bigger kids), and an all around crazy time.

As for Slow-Moe, Kevin and Lenny have pronounced it unsalvageable, or irreparable, or whatever term you want to use, so i am thankful for all the years we had it and i will focus on this.
