Sometimes thing have to get a bit stretched before they fall into place.
As noted, Dr. D was going to be out of town.
Also as has been seen, every time i try to get a day off, well, the best laid plans and all of that.
First, i'm thankful to Dr. D for trying to give me that day off, when she could have asked me to come to the house Monday and work without her anyway.
Then, there was Bigger Girl and the snafu with getting her to the airport, thank you so much, Sweetie, for taking her.
Last Friday, Ms. J called very early to tell me they were setting off flea bombs in the house so we could not come over to clean. She asked me if i could reschedule, did i have any openings. Good-bye, day off. Thankfully.
Yes, really, i was thankful, because it meant i got to go to Ms. GA's early and then go home and take a rare Friday afternoon nap.
Monday, thankfully, we did get Ms. J's house done, including cleaning all of the couches well, something you have to do very soon after flea bombing just to be sure. In this case, we want to be sure, fleas are anathema to Ms. J's very organized and tidy soul.
Also, all of the rearranging gave me the chance to call Ms. JAI and get her settled for the week. It turned out to be a great thing, she had been begging for a ride to a procedure at the pain doctor's clinic and no one was available. Yes, because of all the scheduling changes, i could do it.
It meant Tuesday morning started at Ms. B's house at 6:30, but i am thankful every time i get to clean there now. Once that place sells, that gig is over and i will be playing musical clients, moving people into different slots, but i will also be down one job.
Anyway, i was so thankful that i was the one who took Ms. JAI. It seems everyone who has given her a ride before has just dropped her off after and left her to fend for herself. She's over 80, she is often dizzy because of a chronic condition, and they would drop her off after a medical procedure with anesthesia and let her figure everything out on her own. Gads.
Yes, i stayed with her at the doctor for almost 4 hours, then took her home and fixed her meal and made sure she was safe in bed with her panic button and her phone before i left.
Wednesday was a bear, i spent it back at the red house, the one that has taken about 25 hours so far to try to restore from the damage the renters caused (and that's just hours of me cleaning, not Ms. G patching holes in the walls, repairing faucets, and rebuilding some cabinet shelves). Yes, i'm thankful for it, it's work and it pays and they've decided not to rent it again but it will be sold, so i probably won't have to go through this again.
Did i mention that last Wednesday before Mother's Day, Grandma's housekeeper didn't show? That meant i drove to NOLA Saturday to clean her house and then Sunday for Mother's Day. We are all thankful for so many road trips being safely made, although that added to wearing me down a bit.
Thursday was a 10 hour day, and i'm very thankful Carl was amenable to me helping him, making suggestions, and getting him set up for the coming week.
Meanwhile, Bigger Girl had called to ask for a ride back from the NOLA airport for Saturday (this) morning or Sunday (tomorrow) morning, whenever her flight ended up being. No, she wasn't going to know for sure, she had saved $50 by leaving it open for them to put her on a later flight if they needed to.
Thankfully, Mr. BA was amenable to me working for him on Friday after i finished their house instead of coming Saturday.
Then came the good part of all of it. Texting Bigger Girl to find out when her flight was going to be, she said, "Don't worry, I'm coming in at 1:30am, so I found a friend to come pick me up!"
Do we all know what that means? It means i actually get my day off today!
All the complications, the messes, the rescheduling, it was all worth it.
This day, i am thankful that i should be able to sit around in my house dress and go no further than my own mail box, which is what i define as the perfect day off.
Did i get to ten things? Somehow i lost count, but i think it all counts. No matter how crazy this life gets, i have a lot of things for which to be thankful
