"Beware the groove, Dad, beware the groove!" Nathan stage whispered as his dad walked in from work, then ran off, ducking behind furniture as he went.

As his wife walked in, Dave said, "Well, that was random!" as he shook his head, wondering what his munchkin had been up to this time.

"Not so random as you think," Melissa sighed.  "First, the kids are back on an Emperor's New Groove movie watching kick, and second, he got into trouble for sticking his foot out and tripping Briana on purpose, so he knows he's on thin ice and he's telling you to watch out for my 'groove' like the old man in the movie tells Pacha."

"Sounds like it was quite the day, so how about I call Grandma to babysit the kids at her house tomorrow night while you and I come back here for take out and find our own groove?" Dave proposed, and then added, "I'll fetch home your favorites from Reginelli's!"

Melissa laughed at the way he drew out that last word, and said, "That suits my groove just fine!"

"Desiree, is that you?  Wow, I haven't seen you in forever!"

"I know!  And with these masks, sometimes I don't even recognize people, so I wasn't even sure it was you.  Makes me want to scream sometimes, having to wear these things."

"Well, if you feel like screaming, be my guest.  In fact, I might come outside and join you, everything can be so frustrating these days.  How have you been?"

"Oh, the usual.  Or maybe it's the unusual these days.  Working from home, Mike was working from home but he's back now, the boys did their second semester of college from home, so we are trying not to kill each other.  Looks like they get to go back for some of the classes this next semester, so that will take some of the pressure off of us.  How about you?  There's something different about you."

"It's the hair, see?  I cut it all off!  Well, my daughter did it for me, actually.  We both got a wild notion one evening when we were bored, and she suggested we play     'beauty shop' like when she was a kid, only with real scissors.  It's grown back some, but boy, did it look funny when she got through with it!"

"You look great with it short!  Mine was out of hand, I'm so glad they are letting us go to salons, even if it's not quite the same.  Look, I've got to get this shopping done, those boys are home and ravenous all of the time, so I have a list as long as my arm, but I do want us to get coffee soon at The Cafe.  They're letting people sit outside, and if we go early in the morning, it won't get too hot."

"I'd like that, too.  I only ever talk to patients, coworkers, or my daughter, I need to sit and have a grown-up non-work conversation before I go batty."

"It's a date, then!  I'll text and we'll work out which morning next week."

"See you then!"

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  

Working with Carl looks like it is going to go well.  He told me he didn't have enough broccoli in the yoghurt yesterday, or that's what it sounded like.  Turned out he was talking about the broccoli he wanted to have with his breakfast, and i never did figure out the yoghurt part.  Doesn't matter, though, at least he got off to work on time with his sandwich.

Toast the bread on very low for 30 seconds.  Dry off the one slice of ham.  Put it on the bread and spread the mayo, very thinly, on the ham.  Top with shredded cheddar cheese, just a tiny bit, and sprinkle with powdered oregano.  Then the second slice of bread.  Does he want it cut in half?  After serious consideration and letting me know i was asking him to make too many decisions,  yes.

Our goal is to eventually get to where each Monday, he and i pre-make sandwiches for the week.  It's a process, and i will let you know how it goes.

Mr. BA and i discussed ways and means this past Friday -- ways of me getting into the house.  The previous means was the hidden key, but he doesn't like hiding a key there any more since the house was broken into once by someone who found it.  He told me to take the key and keep it.

Upon my asking him if he didn't just want to figure a new hiding place in case he accidentally locked himself out of the house, he said, "That's why all of my doors require a key to lock them.  That way I can't lock myself out.  Now sometimes I'm outside working and my wife locks all the doors, and then I have to pound on the door to get in, but that's different."

When i asked if he didn't want a spare key hidden for those occasions, he said, "No, I'd rather just fuss at her about it when it happens!"

On Sunday, he and Mr. Ron, a good friend and prayer partner at the church, demonstrated, at least to me, how men bond with humor.  

Mr. BA got up to go get himself a cup of coffee and bring it back to the prayer room.  Mr. Ron asked if he would please get him a refill since he was already heading over there.

Mr. BA:  How much do you want?

Mr. Ron:  Just top it off.

Mr. BA:  Do you want creamer?

Mr. Ron:  No, I'll take it black.

Mr. BA:  Sugar?

Mr. Ron:  No, just coffee.

Mr. BA:  Want me to spit in it?

Mr. Ron:  Sure, go ahead (winking at me as he said it).
