Fairy Tale Ending (Ten Things of Thankful)

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

If any of you had your fill of reading about Hibiscus the cat last Monday, you can skip this thankful post.

Hibiscus, or “Biscuits” as i nicknamed her, was a terror.  Sassy, willing to bite, and took orders from no one.  She was truly her own cat.

A young couple fell in love with her and adopted her just as she was, even laughing when she swatted at them.

The reports are in, and i am thankful that:

They brought their own carrier on Monday evening to leave in her room so she could get used to it by the time they picked her up Wednesday evening, and She Spent All Day Tuesday Until Dinner Time Sitting Expectantly In That Carrier!

She then spent all day Wednesday in it, and when they showed up to get her, she marched out and demanded that they feed her.

Once fed, she went right back in that carrier and plopped down, knowing she was going home.

She turned into an angel overnight at their house.

She no longer swats.

She no longer bites.

She whines when they leave the house!

They bought her a cat tree and she adores it.

The cat tree has a butterfly toy that hangs under one level, and she spends a lot of time just playing with it.

She sleeps at the foot of their bed.

She doesn’t demand food and just eats what she is given, which is enough to keep her healthy and keep her weight down.

She woke her beloved new people up at 3am licking them!

She wants to be petted and loved on a lot, and they are wondering what happened to the sassy feline they adopted (although they love her this way, too).

They are being careful, as well, not to pick her up (she never liked that at all), but to always let her climb on their laps, which she is doing often.

That cat is smart, she knew she didn’t belong in a shelter, she knew she wanted a home, and she knew, when the carrier came, that she was going to get what she wanted.

All of us who work or volunteer at the shelter are so thankful for the good news that we are doing happy dances.

If there’s anything you are doing a happy dance over, or simply things for which you are thankful, list them up (it doesn’t have to be ten, we won’t count), and link up at Ten Things of Thankful where our wonderful hostess Kristi makes us all feel welcome.

*In several interviews, Satchmo claimed to have been born on July 4, 1900. Historians always disputed that claim, saying it was too neat and tidy, and his baptismal records, found in a church basement, proved otherwise. Some biographies still give the July 4, 1900 date in error.

  1. So happy for Hibiscus or Biscuits! I suppose she doesn't want to stay in a home. She wants love and to belong to someone who loves her. She is so blessed.

  3. Being thankful is the most important thing people should do every day. But today due to the changes going on in this world, people don't show the fact of being thankful. Even a past blogger that was a friend due to some political problems we had, I still thankful for what that person did give me in friendship at that time.
Peace and thanks are needed the most. See ya Mimi, my wonderful friend, one I;ll probably never see you but just blogging with you is important. See ya.

Also, I have no idea how to leave an emoji...is it called an emoji?

  8. What a wonderful tale of the reciprocity of unconditional love. And in a way, not surprising. Having spent a fair amount of time at our local shelter years ago in Florida, you just know that even some of the "problem children" won't be once they get matched with the right family. I wish everyone could have Biscuit's luck in finding the right fit.

  9. What an excellent TToT. (My favorite style of post), which lists things to feel grateful for and reads like a story. (And a happy ending).
    Very cool
