Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays. Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.
Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you. What better way to start the week than with a smile!
Hey, Mr. Cal!
You're on the couch!
Are you supposed to be on the pillow?
I guess that means yes!

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week. While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog semi-break and her poetry is sorely missed, we hope she comes back soon. Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too. Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!
This week the theme is Ice Cream. As with scoops of ice cream, i could not stop at just one, and the 3rd poem is a happy memory of when my children were young.
ice cream just divine
why do you leave mouth happy
and tummy so fat
*******
Don't give me that thin ice milk,
your sherbet or sorbet,
if I am going to thus indulge
there is only one way,
Because there is no substitute
for the substance of which we dream,
go ahead, get the real deal,
the one and only ice cream!
*******
The best time of the week was
late Sunday afternoon,
as kids would come a running
when they heard that happy tune.
They loved to gather quickly
all around that colorful van,
and get their sweet delights from
Mr. Curt, the Ice Cream Man!

Mandela Day -- UN

National Get Out of the Doghouse Day -- the day to work out any troubles with people you care about, so that you "get out of the doghouse"
President's Day -- Botswana

Mimi,
ReplyDeleteI betcha Mr. Carl isn't supposed to be on the sofa, right? lol When I was kid we didn't have an ice cream to scamper off to but I do remember how we'd go to the small grocery store on those hot days for our favorite ice cream treat on a stick. I'm with you on doing it right. I love the full body flavor of high quality ice cream! Mmmm, now I want ice cream!! DH's birthday is this coming weekend so we'll definitely have some with his cake. :)
The pup finds the pillow super comfy I guess! We have a weird ice cream truck around here. It often play Christmas music as it drives around.
ReplyDeleteLove the poetry theme. I don't think I have met an ice cream flavor that I don't like. Chocolate is my favorite, but sea salt caramel is high on my list as well as butter pecan, cookies and cream, German chocolate cake, and rocky road. Have a blessed week. I gotta go buy some ice cream!
ReplyDeleteAw on that cute pup. They go where they go to nap and if we're smart we let them.
ReplyDeleteOh the ice cream. Of all the desserts out there ice cream is my favorite. You made me smile.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ♥
I love butterscotch ice cream but I have to be careful of how much I eat. LOL Have a great day Mimi.

Sweet ice cream poems, and very true.
ReplyDeleteCal is one sweet pup! That's a nice Spark and a yummy poem too!
ReplyDeleteMr Cal is cute. I'm not supposed to eat ice cream, so I slowly work my way through ONE 2 litre tub PER SUMMER, instead of the TWO tubs per WEEK I used to eat.
ReplyDeleteMr. Cal...ahem! Great, great poems! Three scoops. The perfect serving!
