***********************************

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

I arrived yesterday at Becca's and found Mr. Cal had been given a grooming right as the coldest part of our year is starting!  He looked like a shorn sheep, but he was still game to go on a walk and the sniffing continued unabated.

He was shivering a little and held a pretty steady pace to just keep going by the time we got back home, but we kept it rather short and he had a good time.

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Our dear friend Diane is taking a break

we miss her poetry and wit

so carry on as Poetry Monday's a hit!

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Charlotte/Mother Owl and i are keeping it going while she takes a blog break, we hope temporarily.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let us know!

This week the theme is Peace.

(It's sort of poem, sort of story, all of it silly.)

The peasant's house was noisy

with no peace, for it was always full,

with parents, grandparents, and kids

in the din there was never a lull.

There was talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, all day and night, each day and night!

He went to the village wise man

to get his sage advice,

the wise man listened carefully,

nodding his head once or twice.

And the peasant said:  There is talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, all day and night, each day and night!

"I know just how to help you,"

the wise man did then say,

"so you follow my steps exactly,

and from none of it stray.

"Go home and get your horse,

and also your dairy cow,

bring them in the house,

and leave them there for now."

The peasant headed home

his noggin in a whirl

but he did as the wise man said,

not wanting to be a churl.

Now, there was talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, and neighing, and mooing, all day and night, each day and night!

The peasant was not understanding,

how this helped him in the least,

the noise was not brought down,

instead it had been increased.

He went back to the wise man

to tell him of the trouble,

"Wise man, you have to help me,

the noise now seems to be double.

"Now, there is talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, and neighing, and mooing, all day and night, each day and night!"

The wise man's next words

left the peasant without speech,

he wondered if the wise man

had overstepped his reach.

"Bring your sheep and goats,

and put them in the house, too,

remember you have promised,

to do what I tell you."

The peasant walked away

as one in a daze,

but he knew everyone in the village

always does as the wise man says.

Now, there was talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, and neighing, and mooing, and bleating, and baaing, all day and night, each day and night!

The peasant's ears were ringing,

the noise was getting worse,

he wondered if the wise man

was putting him under a curse.

He went back to the wise man

and this time he pointed out,

"It's so I can't talk to my wife

unless I really shout!

"Now, there is talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, and neighing, and mooing, and bleating, and baaing, all day and night, each day and night!"

The wise man once more stunned him

with advice which seemed designed

as if it wasn't a wise man's,

but from a deranged mind.

"Bring your pigs in the house,

and the rooster, hens and chicks."

The peasant was quite tempted

to give the wise man kicks!

Instead he did as he was bid,

into the house they all came,

although his wife wasn't happy,

she said the mess was a shame.

Now, there was talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, and neighing, and mooing, and bleating, and baaing, and oinking, and clucking, and cheeping, and even crowing, all day and night, each day and night!

The peasant was going wild,

this whole thing had to stop,

he went running to the wise man

and at his feet did flop.

"Please, wise man, it's awful!

I cannot hear myself think!

I've done just as you told me,

not from one thing did I shrink!

"Now, there is talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, and neighing, and mooing, and bleating, and baaing, and oinking, and clucking, and cheeping, and even crowing, all day and night, each day and night!

The wise man smiled quite big,

and said, "Go take the animals out!"

The peasant returned home quickly

and obeyed without a pout.

So, was his house now quiet?

After he completed that task?

Well, if you talk to the peasant,

and you happen him to ask,

he will now say, "There is talking, and singing, and playing, and laughing, and crying, and shouting, and snoring, all day and night, each day and night!  But, there is no neighing, and mooing, and bleating, and baaing, and oinking, and clucking, and cheeping, and even crowing, and it's peace and quiet enough for me!"
