How to Handle Sheets, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  

With some clients, they prefer to make their own beds.  Others want it done for them.

Then, there's Ms. V.

Ms. V is frugal.  Very frugal.  She's generous, she and her husband donate to worthy causes and are quick to offer hospitality if he's feeling up to it, but growing up in a family where every penny was counted and then her own time as the wife of a struggling graduate student ingrained a frugality in her which is almost superhuman.

She once went almost 3 weeks with no kitchen sink because she didn't want to have to pay a plumber, who would charge more to change a faucet than a simple handyman and she didn't have enough recommendations yet to hire the right handyman.

Yes, she knows a good plumber, but he's only for emergencies, and having to wash all the dishes by hand in the laundry room sink isn't an emergency.

Back to sheets.  She and Mr. L have one bottom sheet.  Well, they have a second, but it is flannel material and Mr. L hates it because it is hot, so it is not to be used.  The one we do use is not quite the right size for their bed, but it can be forced to fit.

She will not buy another until this one wears out because it will not be frugal to do so.

Same with pillowcases.  Hers are threadbare and we've had to retire several.  There now aren't enough to go around until after the laundry is done.  Until we have even fewer, no more will be purchased.

On to Ms. D.  She does let me make beds, and she had plenty of sheets, some even in the right size.  We have a hard time remembering which sheets are the right size for which bed.  Yes, it gets straight eventually.

Ms. D once asked me if any clients ever ask me to iron.  I told her one used to have me iron clothes, and another had me iron sheets and pillowcases.

She said, "I used to iron my pillowcases, too, but I cured myself of that, I threw away the ironing board!"

I wasn't sure how to respond, so i simply said, Well, that's one way to take care of it.
