Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog break and is sorely missed.   Charlotte/Mother Owl always participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.  Spike's Best Mate often leaves a wonderful poem in the comments on one of our blogs.

This week the theme is Father's Day.

How do you salute a father?

How many words suffice?

Is there any way to thank him

For all his good advice?

Can you ever really tell him

How much he means to you?

To pay him back for all he's done,

Just how much can you do?

The only way i know to start

To give him due veneration

Is make sure you pass his values

To the next generation!

Let's Be Practical, Not Sentimental (Cajun Joke) and Sunday Selections

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

***********************************

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

It has become our vacation tradition (once is a nice occurrence, twice is planned, three times it's now a tradition set in stone) to not go straight home from vacation.  Instead, we go to a wonderful little BBQ joint and get a huge feast, then go to NOLA and give it to Grandpa as his Father's Day gift.  We bring enough so that we eat with him, then he has leftovers for Sunday, and even leftovers for the freezer so he can enjoy some later.

Las' year, Tee done tole Boudreaux, "Père, I wants to spen' time wit' you, jes' us two.  How 'bout I use my 'llowance an' we go to de zoo?"

Well, Boudreaux t'ink dat be de fine idea, so dey goes to de zoo.

Dey be passin' dem a good time, wit' Boudreaux tellin' Tee ever t'ing he know 'bout all de animal.  When dey come to de tigers, Boudreaux be tellin' Tee how dey is ferocious, an' some o' dem eats people.

So Tee ax, "Père, if'n de tiger done get out, an' he eat you..."

An' Boudreaux in'errupt to say, "Tee, son, you don' need to worry, dat not goin' happen.  You don' gots to worry, even if sumpin' happen to me, you goin' get tooked care of, an'..."

"Mais," say Tee, "I jes need t' know, if dat happen, what bus I takes home?"

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

A few more vacation shots, because that's about all i have right now.
