Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog break and is sorely missed. Charlotte/Mother Owl always participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too. Spike's Best Mate often leaves a wonderful poem in the comments on one of our blogs.
This week the theme is Monkey Around Day.
We’re down here at Perdido,
Vacation time is now,
We’re going to enjoy it,
Monkey around, and how!
Go to church at the local bar
Take early morning beach walks,
Shopping and eating and visiting,
Meeting friends for coffee and talks.
We’ll monkey around at the beach,
And monkey around at the pool,
Monkey around through the town,
Monkey around staying cool.
Time will be spent in a lounge chair,
Inspecting in my eyelids for cracks,
Lots of resting and relaxing,
Until for home we head backs.
Yes, vacation’s a great time for monkeying,
Take things slow and let things be,
Each and every day is savored,
It’s a joy for us all, you see.
