Lugging and Laundry and Loss, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  

What were Dr. D and i up to yesterday?  Glad you asked.  We were up to something i was afraid was going to happen from the beginning.

Work on the office has begun, and as i figured, much of what she threw in boxes because she didn't want to look through it first that we hauled up there (my back actually did the hauling) is stuff she now wants to get rid of, pronto.

The trash bin there at the building is now locked.  Since she has the office free on the grace of the family member who owns the building, she does not want to ask for a key.

Result, i am hauling it all back to her house to be disposed of there.

Yes, really!!!

This particular round, it all fit in the trash can and recycle bin, since she is keeping a whole, whole lot.

When i asked her what she thought her children were going to do with all the stuff she is keeping, she said, "Pitch it, I hope."

When i asked her why she didn't pitch it all herself, she said, "That's one of the questions of the ages, and I don't know the answer."

Don't ask me, I don't know, either!

She also sent me to do the laundry at what i call the fancy laundromat.  It has shorter hours than the one i use, is a lot nicer, and the cost reflects the latter.

Dr. D’s house peculiarities include the fact that her washer/dryer stack is on a dolly, and she’s concerned if she washes large loads of sheets and towels that it will walk itself off the dolly and create havoc.  Thus the nice laundromat.

Meanwhile, back at the ol' hacienda, the battle with the tax papers is starting to heat up again.  It's a fight i know i'm going to lose.

Really Random Mid-December Tuesday

First, a note to Sandee, i cannot get your links to post any more.  Upon comparing the code now with the code from several weeks ago, it seems Inlinkz has changed something and blogger doesn't want to read it any more.  Being that i'm a computer dunce, i can't read code, either, but i compared it line by line, and there's one small difference, and that is enough.  (When it comes to computers, one small difference is the world!)

Tech support is on it, i guess.

Speaking of technology, Dr. D and i spent a good bit of futile time yesterday trying to get one of those antennas that will get you free TV hooked up and working so she could cancel her cable.  We had better luck with the cookie baking.

And they mostly did.  Not this pretty, perhaps, but good.

A shout-out to Kristi of ThankfulMe, the hostess of Ten Things of Thankful.  Yesterday she featured my guest post about rEcess.  Thank you, Kristi, for getting the word out about so many wonderful volunteer groups, and for being so involved in your own community.

Today is laundry day again.  Last week, i saw the best and worst of humanity at the laundromat.

One man drove up with his music blaring and promptly ran to the bushes (he looked like he'd partied a bit too hearty the night before).  He yelled at his friend who was there with him, and glared at everyone he saw.

The other saw me heading in with my baskets and ran to help me carry them.  He asked me if i had enough money to get it all done.  He and his friend smiled at everyone, and when i offered them all the leftover cake i'd been given by one of my clients, they were ecstatic.  We discussed how easy it is to be kind to people and bring out kindness in return.

Most of the people at the laundromat are very nice.  We hold doors for each other, we make room and pass over an extra quarter or two if someone runs short.

Just like a small difference is a big difference in computer code, a small kindness can make a big impression on people.

It's supposed to be spring! he thought to himself as he kicked at the DUSTING of snow that covered a CORNFLOWER.

He could decide to stand outside, shivering, and try to figure out if someone was to BLAME for the new CONFIGURATION of weather patterns, but somehow he knew better.  His DESTINY was not to SPEND hours trying to pin blame because all he would come up with is a BLANK.   It's everyone's fault, he knew, and no one's.  Seeking to pin blame would simply lead to a JAUNDICED view of the world, and he already had enough of that.
