Loaded Questions (Cajun Joke) and Sunday Selections

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Yesterday Grandpa was saying, "Look how much better she's doing!" talking about Grandma.

She looked at him sideways and said, "Yes, I'm better, but I still hurt and it's going to be a long time before I can do a lot of stuff by myself again."

He responded, "That's okay, as long as you keep getting better.  And if you don't, I'll go find myself a 20-year-old to marry!"

Her answer?  "You won't be able to do that, I already told everybody you have AIDS, that's why you've lost so much weight!"

That got the biggest laugh i've heard from Grandpa in a long time, he just roared.

Clothile done been sick an' she be gettin' better, an' she ax Boudreaux, "If'n I had a died, would you remarry?"

An' Boudreaux say, "Mias, non!  I don' be goin' make de same mistake twice!"

It truly is a happy thing to be able to count blessings and list thankfuls.

Last Saturday i woke up at Grandma and Grandpa's house and since Grandma slept in, i went and did the grocery shopping by myself so Grandpa could be there when she woke up.  We're thankful she slept, and i was thankful Grandpa, a take-charge person (micromanager!), actually trusted me to go to the store by myself.

Their groceries got bought and the house got cleaned and i got to spend extra time with Grandma because i'd done some of the cleaning the day before, we were both thankful for that.

Sunday morning, Becca's mom was not feeling well, so i'm thankful i was able to get Becca and bring her to church, giving her mom a break to get some much-needed rest.

On Monday i worked two jobs instead of just one, taking care of Carl and Ms. D.  This had been arranged so that i could have Tuesday to go to a meeting, and i'm thankful Ms. D agreed to the plan, and i'm thankful it was a cool day for working outside so i got her back porch posts properly scrubbed down.

#2 Son came by that afternoon to talk over what to do with his car situation.  His car would cost more to repair than it is worth even at today's prices, and Mr. Lenny's son is going to be selling a used car soon, so i'm thankful we had a chance to discuss buy new versus buy used.  (Leaning toward used at the moment, as the vehicle in question has a new engine.)

The meeting i was to attend on Tuesday was supposed to be the group's first in person meeting in two years.  Unfortunately, it was raining, so the rest of the group decided to go back to a Zoom meeting.  Thankfully i hadn't gotten very far up the road when Ms. V called me, and i'd left early enough (because of the rain) that i was able to run two quick errands and still make it back home in time to get on the computer.

For the past several months, Lunceford the Land Yacht has not cooperated in the air conditioner department.  Sometimes it worked, most times it didn't.  Sweetie came to me saying he needed an oil change and his inspection sticker was expired (!), so we were thankful to get an appointment with Kevin and Lenny.  We're also thankful the A/C problem was just a relay, they switched it out and now Sweetie won't be borrowing my car all summer because his is too hot.

Thankfully, too, we were able to take his car to Ms. SE's house on Thursday while my GusGus got the line cleaned out that lets windshield washer fluid actually do what it's supposed to do.  They didn't charge for that, either, another thankful.

When i arrived at Bible study Friday morning, Mr. BA informed he he'd pressure washed the back wall of the house.  The water came through the windows.  The back room, he and Ms. GA told me, was in a condition they'd rather not discuss.  Yes, i got it cleaned as best i could, i'm thankful i was able to get to everything except moving one table, and i'm thankful i can still get down on the floor to clean a floor, because that's what it took.

Once i was done there, i ran home, changed clothes, and went to Ms. PA's son's house so i could set up for a Zoom meeting with her ladies' circle.  Ms. PA is totally homebound now, i'm thankful i can go over there and let her be a part of the group she's met with for 40+ years.  We had a good time, i stayed after to just talk with her for a while.  Every visit with a friend who is 92 is a cherished visit.

The cat shelter was rather quiet yesterday evening, i think the employees were thankful for it as they were using the time for catching up on paperwork, and i'm always thankful to get to go there and tend to kitties.
