Six Sentence Story: Matched

"Don't let it end at a draw, nothing should ever end in a draw!" he said, frantically trying to set the gaming pieces up again as she shook her head and smiled.

"It's okay to have a tie, it just means the sides were equally matched," she said, reaching for her coat.

"Well, I agree with Bear Bryant, he said a tie is like kissing your sister!" he grumbled.

"As Lou Holtz pointed out, that's better than kissing your brother," she answered, and he reluctantly began to put the pieces back in the box.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" she asked, looking at him, and when his gaze met hers, he knew he had indeed met his match, in more ways than one.

"Yes," was all he said, but he thought, and every tomorrow after that, too.
