A Miscellaneous Ten Things of Thankful

***********************************

Thankful day, and my first is a doozy for us.  Or for me.  At least, it's a relief.

The other day, the electricity suddenly went out in the bedroom, so i did what i normally do and waited for the generator to start up.  No generator.

Next, leave the room with the phone as a flashlight and go see what's wrong, but this time, i left the bedroom and the electricity was on in the other parts of the house.  This starts an alarm, as we've had a lot of trouble with the electricity in this house.

Heading out to Sweetie's den/man cave/whatever you want to call it, i ask him what is the world is going on, but he has no clue that the electric is out anywhere.  Then he says, "I dropped something behind the mini fridge and I can't reach it!"  In trying to reach behind there, he accidentally brushed against and flipped off another breaker on the box nearby.

Flipping on all of the breakers and restoring current to those areas, i got down on the floor and reached behind the fridge for his hat.

My thankful is that we did not, in fact, have something major wrong with the electricity in the house.  Or the generator, for that matter.

Also, i am thankful that i was able to reach the hat and we didn't have to move the fridge, as well as the fact that my very own Mr. Clumsy is generally mostly harmless and is, in fact, on my side.

It is satsuma season, and we've had several offers, meaning i am thankful i have not yet had to buy any satsumas.

The pharmacy has finally gotten the message that they no longer need to fill the medication the doctor took me off of.

Last night makes two Fridays in a row where the shelter had four or five adoptions just while we were there cleaning, feeding, and watering.

The volunteer who does food and water for the colony rooms has been out due to health reasons, so Sweetie and i have done our work plus hers for a couple of weeks.  We are glad to do it, as i am thankful we all help each other out there, pitching in whenever any volunteer or paid worker has something come up like this.

Last night, however, there was a new volunteer in, and i was able to have her help with the colony rooms, so we were done much faster.  Many hands, thankfully, make light work.

Our special study with Pastor W on Thursday nights ended, we managed to get finished with the book and videos on the last night.  No need to come back after the holidays and try to get to one last chapter!

There is one upside to becoming my age for which i am thankful, it's something i didn't realize.  Once you are a "senior cardholder" at the local library, your books aren't due for six weeks instead of the three for everyone else.  Now i can check out a few extra books and have time to get to them!

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  12. Wow! I am impressed with anyone being able to reach behind anything. (There are some things that don't get easier as one gets older, at least in my case.) I am so glad that you discovered the cause of the power outage and it was easily fixed.
I am so behind in taking advantage of all the discounts for seniors. It has only been this year that I discovered online that the place that services our car offers a senior discount! I wish I had known this way back when I started being eligible for the discounts there. Just about all places will not ask is you are eligible for a senior discount for fear of offending someone. You have to ask or discover through a friend, or online, etc. that places even offer the discounts.
I'd never heard about senior discounts at the library. :-)
