Kittens (Awwww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week, and The Kitchen (Poetry Monday)

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

Don't you want a kitten?

Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border.  She and Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey take turns providing a theme each week (although right now Jenny's husband is not feeling well and she's taking a break from rhyming).  Charlotte/Mother Owl almost always participates, too.  This week the theme is The Kitchen.

My kitchen is the place where
It is most fun to be,
It's there where i can create
Meals for the family.

It also is the place that
Tongues seem to get loose,
The kids would always talk there most
Reticence it did reduce.

The table was for schoolwork
As well as for the meals,
And when the talk got silly
The laughter came in peals.

Paperwork gets done there
And the computering too,
Except for sleeping in my bed,
The most time is spent there it's true.

Today i'll end my rhyming
With the words from an old sign,
You'll see it in many a kitchen,
And it applies to mine:

No matter where i
Serve my guest
They always like
My kitchen best!

  1. That little grey kitty just melted my heart, she looks a little scared and in need of a cuddle.
I like your poem, I like kitchens too.

  2. Love your poem - and yes, the kitchen is a place I spend a lot of time in too.

  3. A fine kitchen you have. Apart from a table, I think it looks a lot like mine.

  4. Aww! how cute are they hope they find homes soon :-)

That's a good quote, I liked your poem too :-)

    Have a safetastic Monday 😷😷😷

  5. Awww...the kittens are cute. Hope they find good homes and kind owners. Yes, my kids usually has something to tell me whenever I am in the kitchen. Have a great new week.

  6. Good quote about being a good person. Thanx Mimi.

    God bless.

  7. The problem with kittens is that they turn into cats. Maybe Mom will get a kitten one day when our cats are gone, but we are not sure. Good quote too, a lot of people could use that lesson.

  8. Awww on the kitties. So precious. Yes I want both of them, but that's not going to happen anymore.

Love your Spark and your poem. Back in my youth the kitchen was were you entertained your guests. That made me smile.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Big hug and Happy Labor Day. ♥

  9. Love those sweet faces and the Spark too. It was sure nice to see a post from Annie today.

  10. Whoever said the kitchen was the heart of the home was right. Well done! My mom had that saying on her wall as well! I'd forgotten...
    Happy Grandma Moses day! ;)

  11. Kitten eyes always get to me!! How could anyone say no to them?! And your Spark is perfect for our cultural upheavals these days with so many people doing such bad things. We all need to get a kitten to snuggle with.

  12. A lovely poem, Mimi - it sounds like a really good 'family time' hub of the home. Sadly our kitchen is not large enough to house a table big enough for proper mealtimes, but a bigger kitchen is on my wish list if we ever move. My poem is in the Comments on Dianne's blog.

Looking at your lists: 'Feel the Love Day gets my vote!

  13. Great quote!!!! One to live by! And oh my those kitties...don't dare with our Lucy...we used to have oodles of kitties before Lucy chose us. Cheers!

  14. Love your poem, sounds a lot like how our house was when the boys were growing up. I run a once group poetry post once a month on a Wednesday and ours will be this week (Diane does mine too).
Your kitten pics are absolutely adorable, and quote is great inspiration.

  15. I would love to adopt those kitties- I am sure someone will snatch them up. Great spark and poem.

  16. OH! Those kittens are so, so beautiful! :)

Keep taking care...I hope all is well. :)

  17. Those kittens are sweet! Your ability to write poetry off the cuff amazes me. Always something fun to see and learn and talk about here. Thank you for the smiles. Have a wonderful week. HUGS across the miles XO XO

  18. Mimi,

I'd love to take one of those kitties but you know me with my allergies. :( They are cute, though. Excellent Sparks' quote. I'll never stop being a good purrson. The world has fallen into madness but I won't be apart of it...the madness that is. ;) Your poem is furtastic! You're so good with words. I applaud you, my furriend. Thanks for the smiles. Stay safe, be well, and have a pAwwwesome week!

Thanks for meandering by and letting me know you were here!
