I'm gliding in to Thankful Day this week at a bit slower of a pace than last week. Not that things ever really get dull around here, and many days go like last Saturday did, lots of craziness.
First, it was the day before Father's Day, so time to order a huge amount of BBQ from a local joint for Grandpa's Father's Day gift. He loves BBQ and does not light up his own grill any longer, so we get him enough to share, and have a couple of meals and even more to freeze for later.
Grandma didn't want BBQ, she wanted another cheeseburger from her new favorite place. Uncle J and Bryn were ordering from there two.
I'd just placed all the orders when Dre came, and he also wanted something, so a 3rd order.
The third order never arrived so we ordered it again and while the delivery service told us the re-order would be free, they charged us for it anyway.
By the time i'd done dealing with food, it was 2 1/2 hours from start to finish, fighting with my old, slow computer to place the orders, getting reorders, meeting the delivery people out front, dealing with the delivery service.
I'm just thankful everyone got fed! Also, i did not lose my grits over it all and got a crazy story out of it.
Another thankful, Grandma had quite an appetite last Saturday and ate the whole cheeseburger, and those things are big, with a large brioche bun and the fixings.
Becca and i did well on Sunday, days are getting hot and our walks are getting a bit shorter, but Mr. Cal still got to play with two of his doggie buddies.
Ms. S and i spent a good bit of time laughing on Monday afternoon, it's a thankful thing when a client and i can spend extra time just enjoying each other's company.
On Tuesday it was a rare thing, a full and complete day off, no work, a nap, the works. Those are very precious and i was thankful to enjoy every minute.
By Wednesday the cat shelter was open again in a limited fashion. All the sick kitties were totally isolated, being given fluids 4x a day and plenty of meds and TLC, and not one of them was lost. Kittens which might have been exposed were isolated for watching, and since all the adult cats are fully vaccinated, the chances of any of them coming down with this are slim to none. I was thankful to be able to take care of the healthy kittens, the office cats, and 3 of the rooms before moving on to the next job.
Ms. G is looking very tired these days, i was thankful she had a doctor appointment.
#2 Son called with great news about His Bride. She has gotten a job in her field, it is a remote job, the company is not even in Louisiana. They are sending her a computer and all the equipment she will need!
They have also bought a doppler online so they can listen to the baby's heartbeat any time they want to. How's that for thankful for technology, and for it getting cheaper as it advances.
By Friday afternoon there were adoptions and pre-adoptions going on at the shelter, and plenty of volunteers, although some of the cats are still being treated but all are getting better. We had so much help with caretaking after everyone got fed, i ended up folding laundry!
Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Dyanne and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.
