It seems like a long run up to Thankful Day, but we've made it and it's good.
Arriving at Grandma and Grandpa's house last week, i noted there weren't any of the worker's vehicles around. It turned out they will not be back until October when the kitchen cabinets are ready. Meanwhile, we're thankful the floors, painting, baseboards and etc. in the other areas are finished and furniture mostly back in place with a couple of changes.
I was very thankful, when cleaning the new floors, i tried Grandma's preferred cleaner in a hidden spot inside a closet and it looked to me like it left streaks. We cleaned with a light bit of plain water, and it turned out to be correct. Uncle J talked to the builder at length and we can't use what Grandma likes best on these floors. She's okay with us just using water.
Also Uncle J told me, thankfully, the hints i gave him for getting a stain out of his favorite shirt worked. Hint: if you get grease on a piece of clothing, wash it first with degreasing dish soap, then detergent, and then let it air dry. If you dry it in the heated dryer, it may set the stain permanently, so air dry and make sure the stain is gone. If not, use the dish soap again, then the strongest stain remover you can in the laundry. I've never had it not work.
Sunday afternoon our little Annie was getting a bit fussy, so i took her for a walk and we went to visit Ms. D, my client who lives up the street. They both enjoyed the visit, and i'm thankful we went and we will go every week if the weather allows a walk.
Monday was spent on work and trying to solve a bank issue having to do with a company which charged us when it shouldn't have. I'm thankful they acknowledge they were wrong and claim to have given us a refund, but it hasn't shown up in the bank account yet. I'm thankful we had money in savings to cover the whole fiasco.
It's been a very good week for baby tending and i'm most thankful.

Somebody likes the "tickly bug" game. |
Ms. G and i got plenty done Wednesday in between her many phone calls and i was thankful she loaned me a book.
I was also very thankful for the restart of our ladies' Bible study on Wednesday nights. We're concentrating on the longer talks Jesus gave as recorded in Matthew's Gospel.
Sweetie's window A/C out in his man cave/music room finally gave it up after about 14 years (we're amazed it lasted that long). We're thankful Ms. G gave us an almost new one a couple of years ago to keep just in case of such an event, and #2 Son was going to work on it Thursday.
Since a very busy Thursday was planned, i got to Ms. V's house early and she got up a bit early as she'd promised she would. I was thankful to finish in plenty of time to make a doctor appointment, it was very reassuring although more tests "just to be sure" are scheduled.
When i got home, it smelled like the house was on fire, i was most thankful to find it was #2 Son installing the A/C and he'd had to use the grinder on a piece of metal to make it fit, so no actual fire. I was thankful the generator was doing a test run, too, at the same time and Sweetie is thankful his room is cool again.
Once he finished, #2 Son went back to his place and Daughter-in-Law left for her long awaited appointment with the gastroenterologist. A little later, i saw #2 Son leaving for work with our little Annie in his arms!
Daughter-in-Law/Mama hadn't gotten back as early as she hoped, i was thankful to snag the little from him and send him to work with one less worry on his mind.
We were playing in the house when Daughter-in-Law got back and she walked in with none other than our Little Girl (youngest daughter)! I was very thankful to see her, it had been a long while.
Us four ladies (me, Daughter-in-Law, Little Girl and Annie) were thankful to visit while Daughter-in-Law finished her work day on her computer as it was just deleting files, something she could do while we all chatted. I was also thankful to show Little Girl the dress i have for her wedding in October, she approved.
Once Little Girl headed back to where she lives (2+ hours away), i kept our baby with me so her by now tired mama could cook dinner in peace.
Friday unleashed a nice bit of rain and some sky fireworks, we were thankful for the moisture and even more thankful when the stormiest part was past us. I am also thankful Mike-Next-Door had mowed the lawn on Tuesday.
Annie and i had a good day Friday and she had a really good long nap, we're all thankful as her sleep has been messed up since they got back from vacation.
The cat shelter had people there adopting, making it always a joy to be there and all of us very thankful.
Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Clark and his co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

It looks as if Sweet Annie might have recovered from covid. This sounds like a mighty big project getting the house redone on the inside for your parents but when it's done it should be wonderful. Glad to hear that puppies and kitties are being adopted. It's still cold up here by the way.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes always, thank you for this Blog always full of information and interest. God bless.
