More Fun Than We Can Shake a Stick At, a Random, Happy, Word Counting Award Post!

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Part of today’s post is also a writing challenge. This is how it works: one of the contributing bloggers picked a number between 12 and 74. The submitted number is a challenge to participating bloggers to write at least one piece using that exact number of words.
This month, the word count number is: 60
It was submitted by:  Diane at On the Border

At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out!

Let's start with my contribution for Word Counters, which because it will be about Carl should also count as Random and at least a little Happy:

Yesterday, i arrived at the house and Carl's vehicle was not there.  Usually that means he has gone out to buy his breakfast, which he does on occasion.  Not this time, the car was in the shop.  He was busy trying to warm up his leftover IHOP pancakes in the toaster oven.  Trust me, that's really not a good idea.

It seems like it should work, though, right?  Well, unlike the frozen pancakes from the store, IHOP pancakes crumble in the toaster oven.  By the time we rescued the pancake, and he sat there eating one bite with syrup, one with strawberry jam, one with blueberry jam, then back to syrup, i was left trying to uncrumb the toaster oven.

Then it was lunch making time.  He decided on a salmon salad sandwich, with canned salmon, mayonnaise, and capers.  He counted the capers, there were seven.  To round out lunch we added a quarter of a red apple left from a previous lunch, a quarter of a green apple, also leftover, seventeen grapes and a bottle of mango iced tea.

Just for fun, i decided to inventory what was in Carl's pockets before doing his laundry.  Three Tums, each bitten in half, two anti-gas pills, one tube of hydrocortisone cream missing the top, one work glove, half an energy bar with a rubber band holding the wrapper closed, but he has learned to put his change in the coin sorter!

Moving on from Carl stories, i am honored to have been nominated for The Inspiration Blogger Award! by Ms. Purrseidon.

AWARD RULES:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to his/her blog.
2. Answer their questions.
3. Nominate up to 9 other bloggers and ask them 5 new questions.
4. Notify the nominees through their blog by visiting and commenting on their blog.
5. List the rules and display the “Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award” logo.
6. Provide the link of the award creator of Ideal Inspirational Blogger Award as Rising Star from Ideal inspiration

Thank you so much, Ms. Purrseidon!  Here are her questions and my answers:

1. Do you have any advice to the new bloggers?
Write about what you love and don't quit.  Read other blogs, make friends, and you will find your group of friends.

2. Do you have any hobbies?
Just reading -- if i could, i would read all day long.

3. Do you have any tips for a good life?
Love G-d and love people.  It's that easy and that complicated.

4. What two things make you happy?
Faith and family.

5. What inspires you to write?
Words, phrases, images, things that happen, anything can become a reason to write and tell a story.

Now, whom to nominate?  How about Ms. Karen and Ms. Diane, my Word Counter friends!  (There are others i could nominate, but i think Purrseidon already did.)  Please don't feel obligated, ladies, but you are both inspiring and funny.  If you decide to accept, here are your questions to answer:

Who is your favorite writer, and what is that person's best book in your opinion?
Are you more inspired to write by what you hear in conversation, what you see, or what you read?
When are you at your best, mornings or evenings?
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
What is one cuisine you have never tried but want to?

And now for some of those great things Grandma passes along to me:

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

Bigger Girl and an Award and Funnies, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

The other day, at AT&T dealing with Bigger Girl's phone, she said, "You know what I miss about all of this social distancing and shutdown?  I miss going to the zoo.  Mom, let's go break into the zoo!  We're dressed for it!"

She said other funny things, too, which is why i need to start recording our conversations.  She should be a comedian, but she said, "I tried, but I'm not a philosophy major!" referencing my belief that philosophers of old realized they could make more money if they presented their ideas as comedy and became our modern stand-up comedians.

And now for something special, a blog award!  Purrseidon gave me the Real Neat Blog Award.

The ‘rules’ of the Real Neat Blog Award are:

1. Put the award logo on your blog. And here it is!

2. Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you.  Those are below.

3. Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blogs.  Thank you so much, Purrseidon!

4. Nominate any number of bloggers you like, linking to their blogs; and asking them seven questions.  If you are reading this, you are nominated!  Every blog i read regularly, i like and think is neat, or i wouldn't keep reading.  Your questions are:
     1. What's the main thing that keeps you blogging?
     2. Where did you go on your last vacation, and why?
     3. Where do you want to go on your next vacation, and why?
     4. What is your favorite flower?  or flour? (either one, or both, inquiring minds want to know)
     5. Now that you are spending so much more time at home, did you clean the whole house, or are you one of those who found out that lack of time was not the reason you never cleaned the house?
     6. What are you looking forward to doing again the most once you are allowed?
     7. What's on your To Be Read list, and which book are you looking forward to the most?  If you don't have a To Be Read list, what book would you check out of the library if you could go today?
If you want the award and don't like my questions, you are welcome to answer Purrseidon's instead, they are below.

5. Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blog etc.).  Since anyone reading this is nominated if you want to be, you know.

Now for Purrseidon's questions that she asked:
1. Where do most visits to your blog come from?  To find this out, i had to do something i hadn't done in a very, very long time, i looked at the stats page. Turns out, i get most of my visits from the USA, which is not a surprise.  What is a surprise, is that second is Turkmenistan!

2. What is your favorite sport?  Is reading a sport?  If not, then probably gymnastics or ice skating/dancing, watching not participating of course.

3. What has been a special moment for you so far in 2020?  Part of why i keep my holiday lists on this blog is because i think we should try to make every day special.  My most recent special moments were on Mother's Day, when i got to spend a bit of time, at a safe distance, with each of my children.

4. What is your favorite quote?  "Create in me a clean heart, O G-d, and renew a right spirit within me."  King David, Psalm 51:10

5. What was your favourite class when still at school?  English literature, followed by history and religious studies.  Science was fun, when i understood it, and i was fine with math up through trig, but anything after that is too much for my wordy brain.

6. Is there anything you wished you’d learned earlier?  Everything!  While i believe we should never stop learning, i always figure i could have used that info ten minutes ago.

7. What musical instrument have you tried to play?  Piano, and while i am technically okay, i just don't have the musician "ear" and "soul" that you need to become accomplished.

That was fun!  And now for the funnies:

U Honk We Drink

Have a fabulous Tuesday, everyone!
