Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border.  She and Jenny take turns providing a theme each week.  This week's theme is A Funny Joke.          

      

Diane has really done it this time,

Making us be funny in rhyme.

(Although i guess if you want to,

An unrhymed funny poem would do.)

Sometimes inadvertent jokes

Are made by not always funny folks,

My Sweetie husband will sometimes say

Something that will make my day.

The other day, he had a pain,

Of his ankle bone he did complain,

He thought it might arthritis be,

And then he turned and said to me,

With great concern and quite a heavy sigh,

"Is it normal for one as young as I

To actually arthritis get?"

And i have not answered yet,

Yes, i held my tongue, for -- saint's alive! --

The man's already sixty-five.

He must think he is still a youth,

And he works very hard in truth,

Can still work tractors and pitch hay,

Dig for hours on a very hot day,

But i'm not going to say a word

To his statement a bit absurd,

He's kind and loving and me he does charm,

So if he thinks he's a kid, then what's the harm?

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Yesterday was another visit to Grandma and Grandpa, and the regular housekeeper did come so most things were clean.  The dog, Lulu, sheds so much that i always vacuum anyway and get enough hair to knit a litter of puppies if we needed one.

The plants needed watering, and the oven set to clean, neither of which i expect their housekeeper to do.  It would be nice if she could catch the "man misses" in the restroom, if you know what i mean.  Being a janitor, i tend to see things that get missed and wonder how someone can declare certain things clean when i would not count them so.

Aline done be wantin' to go her to de movin' picture, so she done be pesterin' her Père, Boudreaux, axin' fo' money to go wit' de frien's.

Boudreaux done tol' her she gots to do her chore, she suppose to clean her out de space unner de kitchen sink.  Aline done got mad, but she know it don' be no use to argue, so she gone in de kitchen, an' Boudreaux done hear her mutter an' huff while she be cleanin' in dere.

Fin'ly she done come out de kitchen an' say, "Dere, I done did my chore, unner de sink be clean.  May I get de money an' go to the movin' picture now?"

An' Boudreaux say, "Mais, fille [daughter], you not goin' be wit' you frien's today, because if you had really done did de clean unner de sink de way you was suppose to, you woulda done found you de money in dere!"

Grandma has very colorful taste, and she's been buying pots for her plants.

Yesterday at Grandma and Grandpa's, i noticed that Grandpa is still mostly not wearing his hearing aid.  Grandma has to trek all the way across to wherever he is to tell him whatever she needs to tell him.

While sitting at the table, she reminded him about doing something, and he didn't answer.  She asked, "Did you hear me?" and he noted that yes, he'd heard.  She then complained that he doesn't answer whether he hears her or not, so she never knows!

Boudreaux an' Clothile done be complain' each to de other, since dey both be gettin' hard o' hearin'.  In fact, Tee an' Aline, dey chil'ren, be fussin' at dem, too, wantin' dem to get dey hearin' check out.

"Mais, I done been tellin' you Mère dat she need her a hearin' aid!" Boudreaux done say to de chil'ren.

An' Clothile say, "Dat may be true dat I need me a hearin' aid, but Boudreaux, fo' years I knowed you need you a hearin' aid an' a listenin' aid!"
