Being Practical, or Not, for the Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  http://stacyuncorked.com

Conversation at my house:

mimi:  C’mere, doofus!

Sweetie:  Who are you talking to?

mimi:  That crazy cat.

Sweetie:  The cat’s name is not “Doofus”.

mimi:  It is when I can’t remember the cat’s name!

(Don’t you hate when you can’t remember names?)

The other day, at the MallMart, i noticed a stack of a particular item on the clearance rack.  Yes, of course, i always check the clearance rack.  Anyway, i picked one up and checked the price.  It was the same as always, but on a clearance tag.

Hey, MallMart, here’s a note for you, if you haven’t lowered the price, it’s not really on clearance.

Dr. D greeted me yesterday with the TV tuned to the news at full volume and her at a near panic.

“What are we going to do?” she kept saying.

About what?

“About the rioting?”

There’s been no rioting here.  In fact, at the protest on Sunday, there were no barricades up and not a single person even trampled a plant in the gardens around the capitol building.

“But how are we going to protect ourselves if they start rioting here?”

Um, since we don’t live near the capitol, or in a large business area, how about stay indoors and don’t go near the protests?

“Well, yes, I guess that will work.”

Sometimes a PhD in economics is no match for a degree in practical janitoring.

Ready for a few pictures found heaven only knows where?

Hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday!

This month, i am providing the prompts for Words for Wednesday.  Since it is Wednesday somewhere in the world by now, i am posting the prompts, and will have them again with my story tomorrow.

You can write your story on your blog and leave a link here, or write your story in the comments, your choice.

Pick words from one list, or both, use them all, or use none.  The whole point is to get us writing, so please have fun with it!

  5. Such a good post. Funny pictures, common sense (INtelligence and wisdom are separate entities), and the prompts - I've been waiting, so thanks for posting early - at least my early. It's still Tuesday AM here. That time business is hard on my poor head.

  6. I've just picked up your prompts - help! My mind has gone AWOL but I hope I can come up with something. Great pictures - I really like the palm tree. Some people are so inventive, aren't they. Have a Happy Tuesday.

  7. Okay, I don't think a garden in the dashboard is too practical! Mom used to work at a country club and they did all sorts of fancy stuff with napkins and silverware, but the palm tree is really neat! Happy Tuesday!

  8. Your story was a riot and those photos were all terrific!

  9. The photos you shared makes me smile. It is sad to see rioters destroying public properties.

  10. I love your conversations with your clients. Or their logic most of the time. Great entertainment.

Love all the funnies. Neat way to spread out the silverware too. Brilliant.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. ♥

  11. It was a tough trial but the defense tried to recover ground for the “holiday killer’ Here he sat all rational in court. Outside union heads battled crowds who wanted to collect big time, waving banners with sensational headlines.

  12. I am notorious for making up names for our pets.

I always check the clearance aisles/bins, but do expect a lower price. Shame on them.

I have often run across "educated" people who have very little common sense. I think it's a good idea to have both.

Love the pictures... the one with the silverware is amazing.

  13. We thought we had a UNION of spirit, people and ideas in this grand democracy. How delusional that notion turned out to be. Whatever RATIONAL visions we had were dispelled by the election of one perverted, miserable, mean-spirited, insensitive boor. He wasn't even qualified to lead. Didn't have any kind of credentials to administer and navigate the difficult channels of a democracy. That was obvious from the moment he mused about running, everyone knew what he stood for. He didn't have a shred of decency. Yet we elected him anyway.
GAFFE followed gaffe. The HEADLINES were a constant litany of greed, racism, homophobia, sexism, and mean spirited rhetoric. Anyone who disagreed with him was blasted; honest media was labelled fake news. The GLOBAL PERCEPTION of our country took hit after hit. Our glorious non-leader considers it no sin to use the state to bolster his own FINANCES. Nothing is WRONG as long as it benefits him. No SIN is too heinous, no lie too outrageous.
Yet we elected him. We still flock to his rallies by the thousand.
Will we ever RECOVER from this? I doubt it it. Conditions have been changed forever.
As we try to COLLECT ourselves, and try to make sense out of chaos, disorder and injustice, we finally have to admit that the HOLIDAY is over.
We have unleashed forces that are going to be hard to control. And many of us despair.
Yet we elected him. Fair and square in a democratic vote. One vote, one time. Doesn't always work out, does it?

  16. I am taking a holiday from the news. Is it a gaffe or a rational decision? Perceptions vary. I have thought long and hard about this and have finally made a choice. My choice. Others will undoubtedly tell me I am wrong. Tough. If I am to hate the sin and not the sinner I need to step away and collect my thoughts.
A glance at any headline is more than enough to convince me that we are doomed. That the world is in global decline. That finance and the economy is more important than kindness.
I simply cannot cope. If I focus on my own actions and remember that there is a union of people who feel as I do I will be able to recover my equanimity.
I cannot change the world but I can change myself. And I will.

  17. Oh my goodness Mimi. I have the worst thing for forgetting name. I say " What do you call it " or Whose that person " so many times. See ya, what's your name? LOL

  18. I always call my cats the wrong names. I often wondered what kind of Dr. she is. Cool photos. I like the dashboard garden.

  19. That dog with the kittens made me laugh! He looks so frightened by them. The dashboard cactus garden, so much fun over here. The forgetting the names, I did that with our kids too! With puppies and Leo I am forever calling someone by a different name. But if I say treat they could care less. The greedy little stinkers! Always a pleasure to be here. Thanks for sharing. HUGS
