Plenty and Then Some, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

***********************************

It's Thankful Day, and i hardly know where to start.

Maybe last week, where i left off, if i could remember that far back!

Anyway, last Sunday, the plan was for me to get to church early and watch Becca so her mother could practice with the choir.  It's one of those things i am glad to be able to do.

Then i got a call from Stu, he needed a ride to church.  When i told him i would have to pick him up early, he reminded me that, thankfully, he gets up extra early for work each day anyway, and i told him i'd get him about 7:15am.

Sunday morning, i was able to get Stu and we were wending our way toward the church when Becca's mom, Ms. AH, called.  Becca was having a meltdown, wouldn't take her meds, could i come watch her at the house instead of at church.

Well, sure, just let me drop off Stu and i'll get back over there.

Ms. AH, thankfully, had a better plan, bring Stu to her house, she would take him from there, and bring him back after.

Thankfully, Stu was up for an adventure and saw how my crazy world turns on a dime sometimes.

All worked out well as Stu and Ms. AH got to the church in time for her to practice with the choir, and Becca and i spent the morning together.

As i was taking Stu home, i was thankful to be able to bring him to the grocery store, too.  Many were the times i've been without transportation, so i'm glad i could help him out.

Sunday afternoon was a beautiful once a year service at our church for those who have suffered the loss of a pregnancy or the death of an infant, and i am thankful i was able to attend.  (If any of you have a prayer or good thought to spare for Essie, she just lost twins to a late miscarriage a couple of months ago, the service was very hard for her.)

On Monday, Ms. JAI shared with me about some trouble she is having with a relative who is severely depressed and asked if i had anything to advise.  There's a wholistic doctor here in town who has been known to help in cases where other doctors had given up, so i gave her the name.  She convinced the relative to go see this doctor, and i am thankful i thought of it, as it certainly can't hurt and it's more than the depressed person has been able to do for months now, just heading toward getting some care.

Monday was also the day Mr. Mike, the Generator Guy, was able to finally and fully get the generator up and to automatic.  We couldn't be more pleased or thankful for that.

Then, Tuesday i had a day off, while Sweetie and Brother-in-Law made the trek to the out-of-town dentist Sweetie prefers to use.  He got the filling that fell out over a week ago replace cheap, and i got to do whatever i liked, and win and a thankful on both counts.

Tuesday evening was a Ladies' Circle meeting, and we had popcorn (which i'd been craving all day!) and a nice, distanced meeting and discussion of chapter 3 of the book we are studying this year.

The rest of the week went on as per usual, thankfully, (Ms. S, Ms. V, Ms. GA, and Mr. RA) until Friday night at the cat shelter.  Two sick staff members, two out of town working with the country rescue to get over 50 cats spayed/neutered, the volunteer for the morning didn't show up...yep, i walked into it, and stayed, and got toilets cleaned and cats fed and watered and changed litter because everything was behind schedule and got thoroughly bitten and scratched by one tiny kitten so desperate for his food he wouldn't get his claws out of me.  Carl came and helped, and i am so thankful for that and for the crazy nights it makes the regular days seem that much sweeter.

Today i go to Grandma and Grandpa's, and it's grocery day, and even if i don't find everything on Grandma's list, i am very thankful we have supermarkets and more available than most people.

As usual, i have lost count, but i know that's ten somehow, or close to it.  Every day feels like there's a whole lot more than that, but by the time i get to list them it's the end of a long work Friday and my eyes start shutting on me.

Oops!  One more thankful before it gets away from me.  Kristi, thank you for being our hostess and cat herder, and Dyanne (did i spell that right?) thank you for taking the reins!

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting, and i know Dyanne will do the same.

  1. You got a day off??? Sometimes I have wondered whether you ever get one.
My heart goes out to Essie. Heartbreaking and I hope that the service (difficult as it was) gave her comfort too.

  2. I am also glad you got a day off. I couldn't possibly list things I'm thankful for, I'd be more likely to just say "everything" if someone asked what I am thankful for.

  10. So many ups and downs and changes in plans and you survived them all, even those tiny little kittens scratches!
Mrs. JAI surely must have been so grateful for the referral. Sometimes being able to share the name of someone who can help is just what is needed.
    How very sad for Essie.🙏

  15. "get the generator up and to automatic"
that Grat jumped out at me 'cause we have one too (and use it more than one'd think) especially the 'automatic' part (our old generator was a pull-start...after wheeling it out of the garage on to the side lawn (after shoveling, if it's winter)
now the generator comes on by itself when needed.
    have an excellent week
