The Life of Riley (Awww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week, and I Got A Million of 'Em (Poetry Monday)

 ***********************************

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

Abigail demonstrates living the life of Riley, cat style.  The only moving she did while i was there cleaning was turn over on her favorite paper bag.

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog semi-break and her poetry is sorely missed, we hope she comes back soon.   Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!

This week the theme is Old Jokes.

Old jokes are the best jokes,

they get you every time,

and i get to tell my favorites

right here and now in rhyme.

Sauntering down Main Street

one beautiful sunny day,

I passed by Mr. Jones

a-going the other way.

"Mr. Jones, where are you going

with that case of tawny port?"

Replied our Mr. Jones,

"I'm taking my case to court!"

Sauntering down Main Street

one beautiful sunny day,

I once again passed Mr. Jones

a-going the other way.

"Mr. Jones, where are you going

with that very, very tall ladder?"

"I'm taking my case to a higher court,

let them decide the matter!"

Sauntering down Main Street

one beautiful sunny day,

there again was Mr. Jones

a-going the other way.

"Mr. Jones, why do you carry an

empty hanger down this route?"

A very sad Mr. Jones replied,

"Because I lost my suit!"

Old jokes are the best jokes,

at least they are to me,

they are like my familiar friends,

so i've shared a favorite three.

  2. Abigail has claimed the paper bag as her sleeping bag. We don't get tired of old jokes as long as they make us laugh or smile.

  8. Abigail sure looks happy on her bag. I'm on a bag today too. That was a good Spark and yes, old jokes are fun, unless they're politicians!

  9. Lola is not as calm as Abigail yet when it comes to cleaning. As soon as I start sweeping, Lola is out the door! And she is afraid of the vacuum cleaner too, always runs away from it, but unfortunately always runs to the next place I want to vacuum.

  12. Yep. When one finds their favourite sleeping spot, one should never have to move!
Hahahaha! Great work on the poem! Old jokes are always just fun.
Now, so often, they are crass or downright disgusting. My favourite joke site has more and more jokes that are blurred out because they are for people over 18. (I think they should requalify--I'm WAY over 18 and I still don't want to read them!)
