It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Once i'd walked in an tackled the usual stuff in the laundry room, including figuring out what was washed and what needed rewashing, i turned to Carl's room yesterday and the first thing i noticed was this.
He's a big kid, he probably found it on sale at the store and loves his cereal so he had to have it.
He was snoozing but going into the big kitchen, i noticed the timer was only set for a very short time, not his usual extra hour of sleep. Carl got up not long after and i asked why he was up so early.
"I go in at 8!" he said. "They changed it, and they want me 7-3 next week!"
He looked very troubled, "That can't be right, can it?"
Carl is part time and cannot physically work full time hours. He's considered "permanently partially disabled." I told him he needed to have his mother call and talk to them about it.
He nodded and headed to the bathroom, where we had a negotiation about towels, how many he needed for his shower and which one. Since almost all of them were out, it took a few minutes to choose.
While he was showering i stepped up my game since he was leaving an hour earlier than i was used to. I had to get all the recyclables out of his room before he found them and threw them back in the garbage, we've done that song and dance before.
With great trepidation i approached his ice chest, since you never know what's been left in it, especially over a weekend.
Only his ice vest in a zip bag.
Speaking of his ice vests, the others were not extant and when he got out of the shower i asked about them. His response was his usual, "Which ones? Where are they?"
This, of course, is what i was asking him, so i got the keys to his car.
One older vest was in the car, along with 3 towels, as when it's raining he keeps extra towels in the car, and leaves them there. The newest vest wasn't in the car, but i did find all his new gloves in the trunk, along with a clean shirt. I left the shirt, he's supposed to have one just in case.
It was time to get into the freezer and see about getting some ice packs into one of the vests.
This resulted in a Great Gildersleeves or Fibber McGee style of crash from said freezer, and i'm thankful the freezer packs didn't land on my foot. The ice cube trays did give up their contents, though, and we had to start over with them, after they got a washing.
Ice vest taken care of, it was time for the packing of the lunch.
He had a great deal more than usual in his fridge and all i needed to add was some carrot sticks from the big kitchen.
As i worked he came in and out of the room, or i went into the kitchen, and he talked.
"I went to the water park Saturday morning. It was fun, but I got so busy I forgot to go to a party at noon!"
His friends probably understood.
"Work's been different..."
He paused and i asked, different how?
"Some motorcycle guys came to shop." His eyes were wide. "They had tattoos all over. All they did was buy food, though."
Well, i told him, even motorcycle guys have to eat.
He nodded then said, "Another employee thought a friend was stealing, but he wasn't. They had to check the cameras."
Did they work it out? i asked and he responded, "I hope so, he wouldn't do that."
Then he went on with, "I can't get my accounts to work."
Your work accounts? i asked.
"Any of them," he said. "I need to get the fitness pass number." His workplace is encouraging everyone to join a fitness place for a subsidized amount, and as always, he's having trouble getting everything figured out.
Soon it was time for him to be heading out and there was the usual scramble.
"I need the book...phone...um"
I tried to help him find everything, with some limited success, then saying, "I need gas!" he dashed off.
If he's leaving for 7am next week, we're going to have to step up our game, he hasn't worked that early in 2 years.
How about some funnies.
Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!
