Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. She and Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey take turns providing a theme each week. Charlotte/Mother Owl almost always participates, too. This week the theme is gnome, comb, or foam.
It's Dr. Seuss's birth anniversary, and i do not have a cat hat in which my cats can pose, but i can try to put together a fun rhyme on this week's theme. He, being the master, would have done much better, of course.
Gerome the Gnome
Had lost his comb,
down by the shore
near the sea foam.
Gerome stomped his feet
and ripped a sheet
of his favorite paper,
then took a seat.
Gerome wrote a note
and this is a quote:
I’ve lost my comb,
my hair’s messy as a goat!
If my comb you see
please bring it to me
because I hate for my hair
this messy to be!
I was near the sea foam
when I lost my comb,
if you bring it back
I’ll never let it roam.
The mermaid queen
with her hair of green
came up to sunbathe
and the note was seen.
She had found the comb
floating in the sea foam,
she’d a comb of her own, so
she gave his back to Gerome.
So now Gerome
leaves his comb
in his own bathroom
back at his home.
He won’t ever roam
out and about with his comb,
it stays quite safe,
and he’s a happy gnome!
