Time to Edit!

It's time to edit! Everything! If i find it offensive, away it goes!

No longer should anyone else be allowed to read or see anything i don't like!

Bowdlerize: v., to remove material from a written work that is considered improper or offensive, usually resulting in the work becoming weaker or less effective.

Thomas Bowdler, English physician born this day in 1754, published expurgated versions of Shakespeare and Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire.

It seems he thought the originals weren't proper for women or children.

Yes, some things aren't appropriate for kids.

You know what? You need to leave it up to me to decide what those things are when it comes to my kids.

No censorship, thank you.

The California Supreme Court ended its session in June with a vigorous defense of Free Speech. It struck down the law that bans the sale of violent video games to minors.

Do i like violent video games? No. Should they decide whether my kids can play them, or should i? My opinion on that should be clear by now.

On Bowdler's Day, i celebrate Free Speech, even for those with whom i disagree.

Okay, off the soap box now.

  1. No. No. No. Messymimi, there shouldn't be anything that I consider offensive.
Actually, given that what I consider offensive is Bowdlerization, my comment falls short.
Thanks for this reminder that free speech must be guarded.
