Jake Still Waits (Awww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week, and Crazy Dance (Poetry Monday)

***********************************

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

Jake the dog loves to be near his human, Ms. R's husband (that's my every-other-Tuesday person).  He will stay outside even in the hottest weather if his person is out there, and if Jake is made to come in and cool off, he will not leave the door.

Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

***********************************

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border.  She and Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey take turns providing a theme each week.   Charlotte/Mother Owl almost always participates, too.  This week the theme is Ants.

Down here in the hot Deep South
We have a special dance
We only do when by mistake we
Walk near the fire ants.
We hop and then we wiggle
Then we holler, yell and shout,
While slapping at the buggers
And flailing all about.
So if you come on down here
And you see it, don’t make fun,
While we people will be friendly,
Our ants will make you run!

  1. That's a good poem. I'm glad we don't have fire ants here, there are some in Queensland, but they haven't made their way south and I hope they never do.
Jake is a very loyal dog.

  2. Jake is a truly loving dog.
My partner has been bitten by a fire ant (in South America). He tells me the pain is truly nasty. I blow up in spectacular fashion if one of our tiny sugar ants bite so I hope I never experience the fury of a fire ant.

  11. First time visitor to your blog...Hi!
First, I adore your dog. Mine does exactly the same thing and I completely understand fire ants because I too live in the South. I just had my yard treated. Supposedly, the treatment is good for a year...we'll see!

  14. Mimi,

I'll be sure to watch for those fire ants. Sharing one's gift with others is a double reward for the giver and the receiver. Great quote. Have a fantastic week and hopefully you won't be doing that funky dance. ;)

  17. We had fire ants arrive in our county about 20 years ago. Luckily they are not yet on our property, but in talking to those who now have them, they are nasty things. I don't ever want to do the fire-ants-dance! I like your poem and your sense of humour, Mimi :)

Awww, for Jake, for sure. What a good boy.

  19. We have creepy water bugs that we call pincher bugs. Found one in my dishwasher and tried to get him out. He went into hiding and when the dishes were done he was no where to be found. FIre ants sound menacing too like wasps. You always share good things and you are such a dedicated worker. My friend Debbie in TN was telling me home health care workers like her are quitting like crazy and she is pulling close to 60 hours a week! She is the kindest lady. I admire those who do so much for others. Thank you for your kind heart. HUGS and Happy new week.

  20. Jake is a sweetheart. Reminds me of Chester. He does not like cats and my oldest daughter is babysitting him til the company at her son's house leaves. The grandma was gifted a kitten and Chester is naughty around felines.

  22. Those fire ants sound like a whole lot of trouble, but on the upside you must all be real good dancers down in the South. I love the spark this week.
