Be Prepared (Six Sentence Story), Wood (Good Fences), Pirate Lament (Sammy's Poetry Day) and Brian's Thankful Thursday

"Do you know where they keep the rubber bands?" the new part time animal care specialist at the shelter asked me as she was rummaging around.

No, i told her, but i'll help you look, what size do you need?

"Oh, I forgot to bring an elastic band for my hair, and it's getting in the way, so I was just going to use a rubber band, but I can't find any."

As i poked through drawers, i noted how much i hate using rubber bands for that purpose, and she agreed, but said she really had no choice.

"Well," she finally said with a sigh, "I guess I'll have to wait until someone else comes in," but as she was saying it, i had finally given in and grabbed my own "office supply kit" from my bag and handed her one.

She thanked me and got her hair up, and once again i was reminded that, like the Boy Scouts, the janitor always needs to be prepared.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Elastic.

Gosia at Looking for Identity has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

Yes, I am a pirate,
But this is getting old.
The weather is just awful,
And rain in my britches is cold!

I've enjoyed getting treasure,
So yes, I'm very rich,
I've run out of places to put it,
I think my new first mate's a snitch!

I've threatened to retire,
It's about time for me to stop,
Enjoy what I've collected,
Drink my rum, every drop!

Brian of Brian's Home hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.   It's time to share something for which i am thankful.

Today i am thankful for rain, in small amounts that we can handle, because we needed some and got just enough yesterday.
