The Game (Six Sentence Story), Fence and Tree (Good Fences), Together (Sammy's Poetry Day), and Extra (Brian's Thankful Thursday)

"I'm going to get you!" he growled, narrowing his eyes and taking up his position.

Squealing, they ran in two directions, and he chased first one and then the other.  Finally he grabbed the boy, and as the child tried to twist and writhe to get away, yelling, his sister ran back.

Sneaking up, she poked and prodded until he was distracted and turned to her, at which point her brother ran.

"You can't get away forever, I'll get you yet!" he growled, taking up the chase again.

"Daddy, you'll never get me!" each of them yelled and laughed, and ran off to keep the game going until Mom called them in for dinner.

Gosia at Looking for Identity has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

Together we’ve been,
Together we’ll stay,
Each morning asking
For just one more day.

One more day to enjoy
The blessings days bring,
The love and the care
With which our hearts ring.

Then when each day’s over
We know we’ve been blessed,
As together we lie down
To take each night’s rest.

When the day comes that
One’s journey is done,
Each promises alone
To walk in the sun,

And still to give thanks
For each day that went past,
Looking forward to Heav’n
Together at last.

  12. Hi Mimi! I loved your Six story, it brought back all the sweet memories of childhoods filled with innocence and simple joys. I loved the huge old oak trees we saw when we visited your state a couple years ago, I wished I could take one home to my barren yard, though it would not be happy here. Your closing poem is beautiful and very meaningful to me as a senior who also contemplates what the final years of life will hold. I am happy to be reading your words again!
