Truth in Advertising (Cajun Joke) and Sunday Selections

 ***********************************

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Yesterday was The Big Shop for the holiday meal this week.  Grandpa and i went to the grocery and got everything, and i am pretty sure it's everything but some eggs i need for something i'm making here at the house.  All the items on Grandma's list were in stock, and while the price was high, it's not that out of line with what we've spent shopping for holiday meals in the past.

Boudreaux done be goin' in Gauthier Grocery to be gettin' de holiday shop for Clothile.  He done see a sign dat say, "Turkeys, $5 each, or 3 for $20."

Boudreaux done add dat up, an' den he go see hims frien', Gauthier.

"Gauthier, you ol' rascal, you gots to take you down dat sign 'bout how much fo' de turkeys!"

An' Gauthier done say, "Mais, no!  I don't never done sold t'ree turkeys to so many cust'mers in me whole life!"

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It was hosted by River, who still participates, and is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

There aren't nearly so many Thanksgiving decorations as there were decorations for Halloween or as there will be for Christmas, but you can still find a few things, mostly door wreaths and pumpkin displays.

Today is:

Alascattalo Day -- Anchorage, Alaska (A salute to Alaskan humor, a parade in honor of the "alascattalo", a cross between a moose and a walrus; the longest running, shortest parade in the world, held in the alley behind Club Paris from 12:03 to 12:07 pm.  A prize is given to the smallest and ugliest float -- yes, it must be both small and ugly.  An anonymous queen will be crowned, if she has the bad sense to show up.)

  1. Love your selections - which remind me how boring we are over here. There is very little decorating for any of the holidays.

  6. 3 for @20! Bwa! Haa!! Haaa!!! And We love the decorations you did find! Thanks for the kind words about Mom. We try to take care of her by laying on her and purring. She has thumbs and can open the cat food tins (and scoop the poop). The sooner she is mobile the sooner we can be taken care of in the manner to which we have become accustomed.

  8. Had to laugh at the price of three turkeys. I guess math isn't strong for too many people. I love the inflated turkey. The door wreaths are very nice.

Years ago, My FIL was helping with a fundraiser. They were selling cob corn. He was selling them $.25 per dozen or three dozen for a dollar. And everyone was getting three dozen!
