Carousel of Regress (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy's Poetry Day and Brian's Thankful Thursday

 ***********************************

Walt Disney touted his Carousel of Progress in the World of Tomorrow at Disneyland, where they sing about "a great big, beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day."

Progress is great and all, but then again, sometimes it's not.

Blogger keeps "improving," and it's not an improvement, not a progress, but a Carousel of Regress.

The latest is going to be maddening to me -- i used to be able to upload a dozen or more pictures at a time from my phone (or wherever) into a post.

As of yesterday, when i finally reset my password and got in on a different browser since it won't let me upload at all from Duck Duck Go, i was only allowed to put in one picture at a time.

Days like today, with only a couple of pictures needed, shouldn't be too bad, but on my picture heavy days like Sunday Selections or Random and Happy Tuesday, well, i don't think is very progressive and i'm not looking forward to how much longer it's going to take me.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Carousel.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day This week's image and my poem:

She wanted to go to the prom,

the invitation accepted already,

of course, it was from her boyfriend,

for they were going steady.

Now came the big question,

what was she to wear?

Strapless dresses were the new rage,

she wanted to, but did she dare?

The family sat in conclave

on this matter of such import,

they were a church family, after all,

should she such an outfit sport?

The discussion went 'round the table,

it seemed to get nowhere,

'til older brother put in his say

and settled it then and there.

He simply said, "Now listen,

This matter's not so tough,

Just put the doggone dress on her,

if it stays up, she's old enough!"

(Based on a true story.  Art Linkletter's eldest daughter wanted to wear one of the new strapless dresses to the senior prom, and they really did have a family discussion which ended with older brother's statement clinching the matter.)

Today I am thankful Jock has been doing better about sitting and minding me when cars drive past us on our walks.  He's nowhere near perfect, but he is doing better.

  1. You are so right about the Carousel of Regress. Love that solution to the strapless dress quandry.

  2. great poem! I noticed the change in picture loading today when I wanted to email something to my brother. It's going to make writing and scheduling Sunday Selections a lot longer.

  3. Change is good...most of the time but when they mess with technology it can be really frustrating. WordPress is always messing around with things, but no major changes recently. FB is the absolute worst, really don't like it but it is a necessity.

  4. I moved from Blogger to WP 4 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did. Older brother's suggestion was brilliant! I assume it stayed up!

  5. Some firms have experimental servers where they test their applied changes, get feedback and then push them through.

Call me old school ( I am ancient :) ) but I hate changes like that, too. And if they take down the classic editor at WordPress... oh man, I am in biiig trouble!

  6. Good luck with the blogger photo thing. I really like the brick fence and the poem. I could never wear strapless as I have not enough on top to hold it up, lol

  7. I can identify. wordpress, in endless search for change (because, why would anyone use it if it wasn't NEW! IMPROVED!!!) came out, a couple of years ago with a version that only alienated it's traditional customer base in favor of a new market it felt it was overlooking.
... how about self-hosting? Fairly inexpensive these days and always have more features and capabilities than the old form. At least that was the case with wordpress.com (the free version) vs self hosting.
I need to step down from my soapbox... I used to feel more comfortable up on it, helping the world than I do now.

  8. Great poem. We love the story about the dress. We also agree, progress is often regress.

  10. I detest new and improved. It's never is. They just cheapen whatever it is and force people to have to buy it.
