Rain, Potluck and Pastor Appreciation, a Random and Happy Word Counters Post

The start of the "breakfast of champions," Carl style.

Carl was up, showered and dressed when i arrived yesterday.  He's been doing well at setting the alarm clock.

If you think a shorter work week last week means a cleaner room this week, sorry to disappoint you.

He keeps up with washing and drying laundry pretty well, it's the putting away which seem to stymy him.

I untucked his pant leg from his sock and then tried to turn on some lights in his room.

I say tried because so many are burned out again, and the chains on the lamp were sticky.  Ewwww!

Looking to pack his lunch, i managed to stumble upon his small ice chest.  It's just perfect, lunch sized.

As i packed, he talked.  "Where is Friday supposed to go?" was his first stumper as I grabbed applesauce.

I guess it's supposed to go after Thursday, i finally said, that's where i usually find it most weeks.

Seeming to like that answer, he moved on to another topic.  "I need encouragement," as i packed carrot sticks.

You did a wonderful job getting up early and getting ready this morning, i started in to encourage him.

"No," he interrupted.  "Cards!"  You need encouragement cards? i asked after pondering a moment.  "Yes!" he answered, eyes bright.

Have you looked through the greeting cards at work? i asked, and he smiled.  "Great!"  Then he added, "Today!"

"We had a potluck at church," his mind had moved on while i grabbed grapes and a cheese stick.

It was good? i asked, and he said, "Yes, it was Pastor Appreciation!"  That's why he wants the card.

Of course, he's getting it after the fact, but trust me, the pastor knows him well and will understand.

He was trying to describe the cake they'd had at the pot luck, but words seemed to fail him.

He lives to eat, that one, and i packed him a lunch to get him through to snack time.

Meanwhile, as the laundry stain remover in the car seems to be a habit, i grabbed his car keys.

As i headed out, he called, "Raincoat?" and that is a stumper.  It's been two months since it's rained.

We never found the raincoat, i'm sure he bought one at his MallMart and forgot to buy a card.

Yes, he also got a donut in his lunch, the others got put in a container in the fridge.

I found several of his cold packs for his ice vests thawed in the sink.  Meanwhile, in the freezer:

No, that is not water in those trays.  Pink lemonade.  He's obviously up to something.  Hopefully, i'll miss it.

How much ice cream, which you've been eating with a fork, is too little to save?  None, for Carl.
